Hi, I just took my first Lapidary class lest week, next one is tomorrow. I made 2 cabs in that first class with stones provided by the instructor and really enjoyed myself. Went a little crazy on eBay last night buying some slabs for future classes so guess I will be signing up for multiple 4 week sessions. I am hoping to get some of the basic machines later this year after I have some more knowledge of what I like.
i live in SW Florida. I am retired from being a Telecommunications Infrastructure Designer for large construction projects. Also have been doing woodworking for 40+ years as a hobby/second income. My wife is taking silversmithing classes and that got me thinking about cutting stones. She showed my first cabs to her instructor and is using one in her next project.
Right now I am enjoying reading about the tools and different stone properties. Hope to learn more.

Already asked for a trim saw so I can rough cut cabs before I go to the center. She wants a Foredom, which is also good for me.
