That's an Australian material called "tiger iron". Not the same as African "tiger eye". And you are π―% correct. It's awesome! The tiger iron I've seen and worked with looks very different. For one, it's very red. The pan also gets a lot dirtier. Do they heat-treat it to get that color, like red tiger's eye? Is it possible your piece is "Marra Mamba"? They can be Jasper red

Is it possible your piece is "Marra Mamba"? They can be Jasper red It's hard to say. There is a lot of stuff that I have that comes from "the trim pile" at the club-house. Unless you saw who put it there, good luck finding out what exactly it is.
I'm not saying it's not tiger iron, I've just never seen golden tiger iron before. That said, I haven't worked with much of it, and there is that band near the top that looks kinda tiger-iron-like. I always thought the red came from jasper, but it occurred to me that maybe some of it is heat-treated. Just tossing out theories, and open to suggestion.

Be happy with what I got, right? Who cares the name. That is an amazing piece! Be proud and make a bunch of money (if that's the goal)....

Nice work on all of them! The variscite caught my eye in this group. Thanks. I participated in a craft show this weekend. That one and most of my dino bone cabs were snatched up pretty quickly.
