I too have such fond memories of watching Roy on Hee Haw.. belly laughs one moment at whatever goofy jokes he was part of, then marveling the next at his mastery of the guitar/banjo/fiddle. He was greased lightening up and down the fret board!
There will never be another like him.

Growing up we had 1 channel on TV that was clear. Hee Haw was a regular on TV. One summer, my Uncle and I went to the Regional State Fair. Little did I know he was planning on taking me to not only one concert that day, but two. First was the Porter Wagoneer show, which also had an upcoming country artist, The last one was a Hee Haw Review. 5 of the greats were there, including RC. At the time I was learning how to play guitar. My Uncle had arranged for me to meet RC, Grandpa Jones and others. Uncle even brought along the family camera. Those photos are long gone, but I will always remember. Loretta Lynn and her up and coming daughter Crystal Gayle also performed and I met them. A great experience for an 12 year old.

Are you sure those photos are gone? Someone usually ended up with them. I just sent a bunch of negatives and slides to LEGACYBOX that I couldn't tell what they were. Here are a couple from my time in Uruguay. Asado con cuero - eating with the gouchos.

That piano was way louder than anything else and made it less cool.
