Knocked these four out last Sunday, but with the crappy air we were having, it was hard to get good pictures. Oddly enough, one can be unable to see the sun, and still get a ton of glare.... DSC_0863_Vesuvianite by Stephan Telm, on Flickr Vesuvianite (var. Californite, aka idocrase) is sometimes called "California jade." This is unfortunate, because I dislike when things are marketed dishonestly. I think Vesuvianite has a beauty of its own that should be celebrated. For one, it is actually more translucent than actual California jade. DSC_0868_Nephrite with iron inclusions by Stephan Telm, on Flickr I thought this stuff would orange-peel like crazy, given how foamy the swarf was, but I managed to keep the wheels clean by spraying extra water from a hand-held squirt bottle. I'm not overly fond of the iron inclusions. AKA sowbelly agate. DSC_0875_Morgan Hill Poppy jasper by Stephan Telm, on Flickr I think I'm going to follow Paul's lead and stop using the cerium wheel on this stuff. Too much cerium imbedded in tiny fractures that would otherwise be invisible.

Nice piece of lavender lace. I do find it interesting that there are 2 dominant pattern types of the material.

Very nice!
I also have a handful of stones I've been waiting to photograph - I also tried to take photos in the smoke and decided to wait instead of posting crappy photos on Etsy.

You know which I like already!!
The lavender lace is sweet and I love nephrite but it looks like you have your work cut out with that!
Great stuff and I was impressed checking your cuts out on Etsy too.
