Ran these for 4 days in medium grit with ceramic media in 1 lb rotary. Wanted to preserve the character of the stones, so was not looking for perfect gloss. Results are exactly what I hoped for. They are now in a 24 hour Borax cleaning, due to the crystal pockets in the corals and other grooves/pits. Then on to stage one pre-polish. This is a combo of materials. Petoskey. Other MI fossils. Fossil shells. Self collected materials on my land. Thanks for looking.

Very cool. I get tempted to purchase rocks, then I realize that I have so many around here (not just in my garage)- for some reason I like working with the ones that I collect. Anyway, they're beautiful.

The fossil shells are the poorest quality of the batch I purchased. Figured I would experiment with them.
Never put Petoskey in a tumbler, either. Just hand polished them.
I like trading with others to get things I do not have here, but those I collect myself are usually my favs. I never tried to polish a piece of lava before.

I tumbled a large Petoskey, about 3" X 2" maybe 1/2" thick in coarse for 3 days. The pattern was very faint, after tumbling it stands out nicely when wet. It was at the end of a 13 day coarse run so the slurry was pretty thick. I am thinking about adding it to a 220 SiC run for maybe 2 days and then a 500 AO run for 2 or 3 days.
