Interesting! Please let us know if it really does get hot enough to work for soldering jewelry? If it does that could be a game changing tool for many.

It says it gets 500 degrees C which is 900 plus F. easy solder flows about 1200 F and hard about 1300 F (going by memory) I don't think it will solder silver its a little cool.

I have a similar station but the temp only goes to around 450C as toiv0 says won't work with silver solder. It will work with plated copper wire used by some wire wrappers but you have to strip the coating down to the copper core I have done this with varying degrees of success. You probably wouldn't want to use it for exposed areas. You need to use standard leaded or unleaded solder(60/40) or the unleaded solder but it is harder to work with IMHO.

Working in the HVAC Industry over 35 years I have used my share of Silver Solder. I have soldered miles of copper with silver bearing safety silv and silfloss and everything in between. The normal individual is not aware of soft silver solders that melts at around 425 deg that we use in the HVAC Industry. Not every job will use this type of solder but many will. Click on this link to see this solder and specifications.
