Recently I posted that cabs in the 40-50 mm range give me pause. But then I went and just finished the largest cab that I've ever made at 51.5 mm tall. This Sci-Fi jasper came from the slabs that I got from beefjello . The dark side didn't polish up as well as I had hoped.
I was intrigued by the face and how it seemed to extend into the dark area, but the dark side changed as material was removed. Does the cab suggest anything to you?
Eagle Rock plume agate from Oregon. Vug-ugly or pretty depending on one's tastes. The white "scratch" on the right is a reflection from a distant light. And two Coober Pedy opals that definitely do not look at all like they do in this quick photo. The big one is 15.9 cts and 25.3 x 14.7 x 6.2 mm. The rectangle is a very nice, low dome piece of crystal at 0.92 ct and 14.7 x 11,7 x 3.6 mm.

Your face is mysterious. I see two more faces on the dark left.

I agree with Pat . I see several faces on the left, and the entire cab looks like a face in a way. Super cool! Like all of your cuts. Someday I'll try opal.

All very interesting and nicely done! I like the Eagle Rock cab - been there but got mostly black agate - talk about a place that's dug out! I understand Mr. Quant ("Shirts") was first to dig this site in the 40's. Your Coober Pedy opals are awesome!

Cool cabs. The half-dark face reminds me either of old theater masks, the Norse goddess Hel, or the Phantom of the Opera.
The Eagle Rock plume is beyond cool.

1. A fractured soul from theater days long ago. Feeling the pain in this one. They are trying to heal. 2. A most beautiful cab. 3. Your opals are always amazing.

I really like the "face", it looks more like a half of it in fact. It is blind on one half of the face and wears a bandage over the missing eye, like Norse god Odin. Mysterious!

As others have already commented, your first cab is two-faced.
The opals are stunning and I can only imagine what they must look like in sunlight. Probably blinding!

Another Norse reference. I guess they liked the dark/light contrast in depicting their deities. It certainly fits the personalities.

Nice set of cabs opalpyrexia. I've been seeing Eagle Rock material similar to that for sale on Facebook recently and I've wondered how it would work up. Your "vug-ugly" comment pretty much sums up what I thought it would be like BUT you did a fantastic job with it and I would vote "vug-beautiful!" I'm a sucker for organized vugs, whether they sparkle or not.

I hope so. The split face and the extra faces in the dark half looks moody and ominous to me.

Thanks, and thanks for your reaction to the face. The theater masks had occurred to me, but the Norse goddess and the Phantom are the type of insights I'll need to help sell it!

Thanks, Tommy. Despite careful planning for the Eagle Rock agate, I had to adjust shape and size as I cut when a couple of side voids appeared. The rest of the slab is probably useless but I'll examine it carefully.

You got a bit of a yin yang thing going on in the first cab. All of them are pretty cool.
