Both of these have a Winter in Wisconsin (USA) theme. The first is called "Black Ice Peeking Through the Snow". As the snow/ice melts from roads, the blacktop once again appears. Marble (probably). Cut preform with Dremel. Did more shaping with Dremel. Put in my Chicago Electric tumbler in 80 SIC for about 1.5 weeks. Did a 24 hour Borax cleaning, plus some soft toothbrush cleaning. On to 120/220 SIC for about 1.5 weeks. More Borax and toothbrush. Now in 600 AO for who knows how long. Same process for next one. Preform. Chose to use the other side of this. preform for Blacktop Peeking Through the Snow After shaping with Dremel. Blacktop What I put into next tumble stage a few days ago. Current Calling this one "Scared Winter Spirit". Maybe Crazy Lace Agate with Druzy. This is what happens when Wisconsin temperature rise above 40 degrees F. The Winter Spirits become very scared that they will melt. spirit Next steps for both are moving on to 1200 AO pre-polish, final polish in 12,000 AO. Then further polish with Dremel using an AO 12,000 paste I make. The final Cleaning after using Dremel with the 12,000 paste will be the toothbrush or a make up brush and lots of high pressure water. Just found out. The Winter Spirit has already been sold, upon completion, to someone who does Winter Solstice Ceremonies. She held it and it spoke to her. Does not care about final gloss. Wants me to preserve the crystals. Told her I would not accept the amount she wanted to pay for this very special piece. Thank you to drocknut for sending me this. The Marble was started in November, then put on Hold. The Spirit in early December.

Sorry about the blurry photo of the blacktop cab. Looked fine on my computer and Flickr before posting here. Oh well.

Super cool! Is your tumbler vibratory? I can't picture these in a rotary.

Rotary. Chicago Electric. Use both 3 lb. and 1 lb. barrels. CE get a bad rap by many, but I have found it excellent. Also have a Thumbler with duel 3 lb. barrels, but prefer the CE, as I have it dialed in. Have an 18 lb. vibe, but waiting til spring to build shelves for that.
