Looking for the replacement for the weather strip type rubber strips on my saw. Where is the best kind and place for it? Front of saw has the gear inside the cover. Is it supposed to be sealed with oil in it or do I just oil/grease the gear periodically? Also, small leak in corner of the basin. Can I JB Weld it? Also would like a see through good. Easier to make or buy?
Thanks all.

Avoid natural rubber, cutting oils ruin it in no time, probably neoprene would work, I have used those high density foam camping mats with success.
I made a new perspex cover for the clubs 14 inch saw, it's really quite easy to do if you are familiar with woodworking principles and have a table saw. I was fortunate to be around when a new display home was having it's display dismantled before putting the home on the market and scored 10 large sheets of perspex, so it didn't cost anything, if you have to buy it it's fairly expensive. Glue it together using "Scigrip Weld On adhesive" It creates a welded type bond, super stuff. Get it on Ebay. You need to set yourself up with jigs etc to hold you box square and steady while the glue sets up, you want to apply the glue, move your piece into position and not move it again, any movement will alow air bubbles in and weaken the join.

For cutting perspex on the table saw without chipping you need a very sharp blade with fairly fine teeth and feed the perspex through slowly.
Don't use screws, they tend to pull the sheets in in spots and actually make a less sturdy job, that "Weld on " really does stick like the join is welded.
That's all there is to it, just those two tricks, make jigs to hold things steady and feed through the saw slowly, it will be a breeze. Keep the scigrip Weld on in the fridge it will last for ages.

The worm screw cover is sealed with a bead of black silicone. Then filled 2/3 of way with 80 wt gear oil. I know it sounds incredible but the silicone will hold the oil even with the two or three screws HP gave you to hold the cover in place.
