Way too cold to go outside and try to remove the other rock I have up for ID. It is now frozen under 2’ of snow on my deck. Wanted to do an acid test and get more photos. Presenting this one. What I call a glacial deposit. Found at location on my Avatar. Hardness of about 7 to 7.5. Negative on acid test. Only cleaning was a soak in baking soda/vinegar and a good brushing. Colors are pretty accurate on my computer. In the past was told locally either a fossil coral with other possible fossils or Spotted Chalcedony. The experts here were at odds. So, what do you think? johnw what would your bakers think of this one? Thank you 1 2 3 4 5

I took this to the cookers at The Big Crazy's Pastry Shop and they all took off running. Apparently what you have is an Alien Metamorphosed Skull. I'll try and see what they mean. Cheers johnw The Alien is looking to the left fernwood :Dang, that's a fine picture of an Alien, best yet. Congrats. fernwood Follow up: What I found out after all the cookers came back to the shop is what you have are the remains of an Alien that underwent metamorphose. I find out according to Merriam Webster, metamorphose is the process of being able to change into a different physical form especially by supernatural means. After explaining all this to me the cookers suggested you go to a quiet place, dig a hole in the ground, place the Alien in the hole, cover it up and walk far, far away, thereby letting the Alien be at one with the Universe. I gotta tell you all the cookers were really wide eyed when telling me this story and, to a person, visibly shaken. It's entirely up to you of course, but I personally would not mess with it. Cheers, johnw

Its a quartz, most likely chalcedony/chert. I have collected a decent amount of silicified corals along the lake Michigan (WI) shoreline and this does not resemble any I have seen, but I suppose its possible.
