As a 34 year (active military) Submarine "rider," I Fully believe Nuclear Power is our answer... Safety Issues are constantly questioned - and Improved upon!
I know people stand afraid of it and that its waste continues to be an issue; however, it is the least environmental polluter and Waste and Safety Issues resolutions are constantly sought...
Just my unasked for opinion...

Many of the waste isotopes will outlast any containment we can devise. And that is just one of the problems.

No, only population control can save the planet and the world just isn't ready to bite that bullet. I think it is too late even for that, unless we’re talking about actually “culling the herd.” In that case, there is no ethical way to accomplish that.
