Winter temps mean my house is too cold to do much with cabs, other than make them with Dremel and tumbler. Not enough light or heat to do wire wraps or make other jewelry. I was trying to get some organizing done and made an embarrassing discovery. Photos show about 20% of the cabs I have. Some I made. Others were traded for or given to me by others. Had no idea I had this many cabs. Guess I will need to get very busy when my house warms up. Some of these came from toiv0 and manofglass Others were from the person I was trading from at the storage unit. Some are mine. Thinking there could be many worse things to hoard, lol.

Yup. Just leaving all as is for now. Want to get a sturdy drill press for the Dremel. Also, a way to secure the cabs when drilling. Some I think are just too pretty to drill a hole in. Have way too much potential.

Pretties! Yes, I'll also confess to being a cab (and slab) hoarder. I really have made an effort over the years to sort out those with which I cannot part into one set of cases, and to free up space, boxes of those that have to go. Despite that, the stacks of both have grown. You are correct that there are worse things to hoard, and it isn't a disease that I'm particularly motivated to cure.

Nice cab hoard you have there!
At least the cabs don't take up too much space. When you start hoarding slabs and rough is when you really start running out of room.

All I can say is more power to your hoarding efforts! I hoard them too. They don't take up much space and I like to look at them. Makes me feel rich.

Wow, some nice ones there! Think of it as money in the bank, not hoarding...

I hear ya! Long before I began cabbing I was a cab junquie. I must have bought 1000 cabs. I put my keepers in riker boxes and periodically have to go through and part with some- otherwise I would be overrun. And, by golly, I can't take them with me when I go.

And, by golly, I can't take them with me when I go. I've put my heirs on notice that there are some valuables stashed in those cases and boxes. Better to get an idea of what is what before I return to mineral dust myself. Some have taken an interest, others... well let's just say that I expect the ones who bother to take a look are going to come out way ahead of those who are too busy texting and chatting nonsense on their devices.

My daughter made sure that I identified and labeled them all. All the kids have a mild interest and some knowledge. They know there's some good uns in there.

I enjoy stirring the pot by telling my heirs that they are required to bury me with a hoard of predesignated stones set aside for the purpose or they will be cut off the inheritance. Of course I'm kidding them but I keep a straight face and some wonder if I'm serious. I don't even feel guilty.

LOL! I tell my 3 kids that I want to be cremated and have my ashes divided up between them to sit in their livingrooms to make them feel guilty when they are messing up. After all this time, they still believe me, so I'm not backing out now. LOL!

Nice hoard of cabs. I'll confess to having a few cabs myself but since I don't have pictures it didn't happen, right? LOL.

Have way too much potential. I have the Dremel Drill Press and it's handy. The only drawback is changing the drill bits when they wear out. One needs 3 hands to do it easily, the wrench, the brake, and to hold the new drill bit in place. My drilling container is a plastic take-out container with a large cut in the lid and piece of 1X4 in the bottom with water just over the wood and the rock to be drilled. I have no issue holding the pre-forms by hand. Now drill bits that last, that's my biggest issue. The cheap Chinese ones last about 2 pendants, the better ones last maybe 5 or 6. Either way I am changing drill bits a lot more than I want to. Henry
