Likely others have experienced the same and found their own solution but here's what I did. A problem I discovered with my new Thumler UV10 vibratory tumbler is that if I didn't do up the wing nut real tight (the one holding the lid on) the vibrations would cause the wing nut to come loose and unscrew itself off the shaft and the lid flops around making a real racket never mind whatever damage if left to flop longer term. Also tightening it down to where I thought it would hold good caused the plastic lid to bend and be stressed and maybe eventually break with all the vibrations going on? I found a wing nut in my junk drawer with a larger contact base that holds way better with less tightening required. I added a lock washer under it which is probably overkill/not required but more peace of mind it's not flying apart when I'm out of the house for extended periods of time...

Here in the desert oiling causes it's own problems. All the dust, sand, real estate blowing around collects on anything oily. I use silicon lube on pad locks but have not tried on tumbler sleeve bearings yet. Cleaning well before oiling is a good idea.
