Just throwing this out there. I have read the posts about there being a hole in the bottom of the barrel. I just got a lot-o and an extra barrel. There is no hole in the new ones. It is filled with rubber.
My first batch is on day 2 of phase 2. Looking good.

Interesting. Wonder if it’s the new norm.

Maybe they got better with the design. Lots of folks here had enough of a hole to where ceramics and grit would lodge and it was apparently a pain to dig it out - enough so that the fix was filling it with epoxy.
On my barrels, I did the pre-emptive epoxy fill, but it didn't stay. My barrels have more of a cone-shaped dimple, and as it's turned out, stuff washes out pretty easily. I've had to do no digging.

I have 3 Lot-O barrels. All have the recess in the "knob" on the bottom. Good thing they decided to eliminate the grit trap. Lynn

Could just be that they listened to their customers (what a nice thought!). Many companies scour the internet for reviews, feedback, etc. of their products. Certainly would have found plenty of posts on this forum about the hole issue.

I have a Lot-O barrel with the pit in the bottom. After my ceramic filler starts to wear down they will always get trapped in there. After months of using water nozzles and picks of various designs to try to clear the pit during clean outs I discovered a couple taps from a small rubber mallet with the bowl upside down will clear it quickly and easily.
