I'm literally shaken inside. Just found out that we have lost one of our members Jason Strickland - loving father of Sophia. He posted on Facebook on June 30th about having the flu and now he is gone. I know nothing further. I really liked Jason ( sophia13) personally in the short time we knew him and I considered him a friend. The way he just glowed about his daughter and love of his life Sophia truly inspired me to be a better person. damn damn damn Rest in peace sir. Here is the Facebook post: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2817467994937066&set=a.358398057510751&type=3&theater

TommyUnfricking believable. That is such sad news. How did you get word? Through the grapevine? I know he loved his daughter to death, and it was wonderful seeing him grow with her in the hobby to expand his abilities center. He'll be missed.

Yeah, unfricking believable is about right. It may be asking too much, but I sure hope that someone can carry the torch for him for what he was doing for his daughter and other special needs kids. I'm truly heartbroken.

This is such incredibly sad news! My heart goes out to his family- most especially to Sophia. I'm sure her world has just been shaken to the very core. What a great guy he was. He put so much energy and time into kids with special needs. The world lost a good soul.

Damn that is so sad. I did not know Jason personally but I always looked forward to his posts, especially anything having to do with Sophia. His love for her was so evident. His avatar picture where she is looking at him like he is the greatest thing in the world is priceless. Godspeed Sophia and family. Rest in peace Jason.

Tommy thank you for letting us know.
What terrible news. I feel for Sophia and his family. He was a doting father and his love for her and his excitement at sharing this hobby with her were priceless.
Rest in peace, Jason. You will be missed.

So sad. Jason was such an advocate for those with special needs. What he set up for lapidary work was amazing. I was Facebook and RTH friends with him. Was wondering why there were no new posting on the Sophia's Rock Shop Facebook page.
RIP my friend.

That's just awful. Hopefully his family can carry on and find some peace. Another lesson that our time is short, make every day count the best you can.
