I got let go from my job, and decided that it was an open invitation to begin retirement. I’m dusting off all my tumblers grinders and saws and will be needing you help. Can you tell me where is a good place to purchase grit? Usually 10-20 pounds at a pop. Where do you go for Lortone and Thumlers motors and lastly I hope that I can share some tumbles with you all in a month or so. Thanks for the welcome. In Him -Banjo

Welcome back. The two links below are both really good resources for bulk grit/polish and for tumbler parts. Look forward to some shiny rock photos. The rock shedKingsley NorthChuck

Those already mentioned are good. I often buy from ebay - the seller is: theabrasivearmory and he has pretty good prices. Link: www.ebay.com/str/abrasivearmory

I've had good experiences with The Rock Shed for grit and motors.

Welcome back, from downunder.
Let go from your job, pfft I was resource rebalanced from my job. I hated that they thought of me as a resource not a person. Anyway, retired now and loving it, I haven't woken up one morning and thought gee I would like to go to work today.

Welcome to retirement. I joined the ranks last December. I always use the rock shed for grit purchases. Good grit plus tootsie rolls.. Shawn is great. They also have outstanding rough.

Hi Banjo -
Welcome to the party. I'm looking forward to seeing some beautiful polished rocks. A suggestion if I may so bold is for you not to rush your tumbling. With my TT mod B's rotary tumblers I am usually stuck in stage 1, rough grind, for a couple of months or more before my agates, etc. are all well shaped and the cracks, pits, etc. have been removed. I check them every week or so, pull out the good ones, add some new rough, and keep them tumbling. Once I have enough well shaped rocks from stage 1 this makes the following finish grind and polish steps fairly easy. I use a TT UV-18 vibratory for steps 2 thru 4 and burnishing.
