Hi Rock Tumbling Hobby Forum!
My sister and I want to get a rock tumbler for my nephew. I know I don’t want to get cheap one from amazon. I’m hoping you can provide some advice & brand recommendations, particularly with any of the following features:
•small business made •sustainable materials/energy efficiency •more quiet than cheap plastic, eg rubber •beginner level/child friendly •best value for the price
It doesn’t have to be all of these features. I simply wanted to provide some background for what I’m looking for.
Any & all advice or recommendations appreciated!

Lortone 3A from The Rock Shed. Check them out online. Rubber barrel and dependable.

I agree with the above as well. Lortone tumblers are the best way to go IMO and The Rock Shed is the best and cheapest place to get them.

They also sell it as a kit if you scroll a page or two, comes with rocks and grit for a good price. Lortone is Rock solid.

I bought a Thumler's Tumbler model A-R2 for my two granddaughters in Seattle. The can each tumble their own rocks, or they can combine them and in one barrel do one stage and in the other do another stage. This is a solid tumbler. My daughter helps out keeping it running about 24/7. I also sent them the grit, polish, and some nice agates , jasper, and tiger eye, etc. to go with the blue agates they find in their location. rocktumbler.com/littleredstore.com/double-3-lb-barrel-rotary-rock-tumbler-thumler-a-r2/
