a question I'd like to get some input on
On the Nova wheels, or any other neoprene backed grinding/polishing wheel, what sort of pressure do you use ?
I realize different rock hardness dictate certain styes but generally on a hard stone..
Light ? Heavier? Mixture of both?

o yeah the same question applies to the neoprene side leather buffs
light pressure or heavier?

Clearly the whole basis of a nova wheel being mounted with a soft substrate allows for the stone to be Pressed against the surface to better contact it and remove irregularities that would be missed by a hard wheel. I used to have trouble removing scratches with nova wheels until I decided that I really had to apply pressure not just let the wheel kiss the stone. Things go faster when you are willing to apply pressure and use that soft base to better address the stone.

I think it depends on the stone a lot. But, for harder stones, I use a good amount of pressure. I never bog the motor down, though- I think as long as you don't slow the motor, you're alright. You do need a good amount of pressure to make the wheel conform to the cab's surface.

What I have learned is even with a 220/280 soft to use the wheel to remove scratches not to cut. When I first started I used the wheel to cut because it was easy to control than a hard wheel. I get more mileage just removing scratches. I found on my 600 I need to bear down more when sanding hard material.
