I can’t get my final stage in both the a rock tumbler and the vibratory rock polisher to be really shiny. I do try to use the borax or shaved ivory soap for burnishing. I’ve also tried the suggestions to check on harness, look for small cracks that may hold the grit, and I even purchased a separate bowl for my vibratory machine. I’ve also tried the suggestions to check on harness, look for small cracks that may hold the grit, and I even purchased a separate bowl for my vibratory machine. Tonight I read on multiple threads the recommendation to use 14,000 aluminum oxide on the final stage. One person mentioned he got it on the Rock Sged, but when I go to that website I found multiple AO polishes and none of them say 14,000. Would someone please share a link or tell me where I can buy this? If you’re referring to the rock shed tell me exactly which one I need to buy please. It's getting frustrating to do all this work and not get that beautiful shine at the end. Thank you

If you want a polish that works on most rocks: You want The Rock Shed Aluminum Oxide Polish. It is 5lbs for $20.

Thank you. This is the 14,000 polish that everyone refers to? I’ll give it a try

Yes, I believe I read somewhere on their site that it's 14000 grit aluminum oxide polish. Another thing to look for is if you use ceramic media in the vibe. If you do, check the pellets to make sure that coarse grit has not become embedded in them.
This is a problem I've run into recently and it's ruined several batches of polish. I'm going to buy another batch of clean ceramics that will only run in the fine and polish rounds.

I've talked with the owner since his AO polish is not labeled by size, and he said it's 1.5 microns which is 13,000. If there are no issues with your initial stages, this polish should work quite well for you, as it does for MANY folks on this site. Good luck.

I once bought some silicon carbide 14K to 15K polish from them but it was gray. Shawn said is was a mystery polish he had laying around and estimated the grit. It's not listed on their web site and I believe it is gone since that was long ago.
I'd love to find some again.
