Couple of pics of a little of the material I just finished trimming with the tile saw. Brazilian Agate triangles for the tumbler and misc quartz gem preforms for cabbing.

Tile saws do a great job. I see you are planning on on cabbing one piece. That is what the Dr. ordered!

Docone: I'll cab all the pieces in the lower pic. To make better use of patterns in the stone, I prefer freeforms to calibrated shapes for my collection.
Tom: The orange fortification agates are Dryhead Agates I dug in Montana. The red and yellow fortifications are Tepee Canyon Agate from South Dakota. The orbicular jaspers are from my ranch in Hornitos, CA. There are also a couple of Royal Imperial Jaspers from Mexico, a banded pink Laguna from Chihuahua, a Parcelas Agate ( the black and white banded specimen)also from Chihuahua, the brown and gold one in the lower righthand corner is a Condor Agate from Argentina, and a couple of Moss Agates from the N. Cady Mtns near Barstow, CA.

Great looking pieces! How did you like the tile saw? Just bought the same saw today at Home Depot and haven't tried it out yet. Jim

Beautiful stones! and really great cuts on a tile saw. They look nice and thin and even. Trish

Jim,
Really like the saw so far. Fast cutting speed and the motor is plenty powerful for the work. Actually cuts better than my lapidary trim saw and the blades are way cheaper.( $10.99). have yet to see about blade life but at this price I can buy four or five for the cost of a lapidary blade and they don't last super long either. If you'll check stephan's posts ( he uses one too) you can see a neat splash guard he made. I got real wet today using the saw but it was so hot it felt good. *L* For winter though, I'm gonna build me a splash guard.

Me thinks Stefan bought some Home Depot stock a couple of weeks ago. Or should have. I might be the next victim.

LOL-- No stock!!! just a happy tile saw user- there are others on the board who have not had as good of luck with the same saw- (I think one motor burned out- the saw was passed on to another person who put in a new motor and proceded to burn up another motor) But mine works for what I need- And like I have stated- the thing cuts rock for under $100 bucks!

neuraloid: Just the seven inch wet tile saw blade that came with the machine. Spent this morning cutting Coyamito, Laguana, and Casas Grandes Agates up to about one inch in diameter. Saw still worked great but the blade is showing some wear now. Course, this is awful hard material and these saws are aggresive cutters.
