After years of procrastinating, I finally dug out all my equipment.
Then I realized most if not all my info and contacts are decades out of date. A Google search led me here.
To fill in a few of the blanks, job started moving me from state to state and even to Europe for a while. Got married, had a child and now looking to get back into something a very much enjoyed.
Bought most of my equipment from Bernie's Rock shop in Madison from Bernie himself. He and his team were always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The equipment I bought was used at the time, saw a lot of use from me, my cousin and a few friends then life got in the way. It was made by Beacon Star 6" unit. Good news it still works. bad new, most of my supplies, didn't do so well, especially my belts.
That said, happy to take any advice on where to buy my supplies. my sander wheel is 6" x2.5". I have both a Model B Thumler and a vibratory unit.
Excellent news is my son is even got interest when he saw the equipment and wants to try doing some work on his own. I did have a few old semi-finished pieces to show him.
That said, I am looking for a place to get belts, doping wax and most importantly a few semi-nice pieces (just getting back into it after all) to tumble and to polish. A source for some slabs of Lapis and tiger eye would be appreciated.
My wire work is needless to say a bit rusty, but want to do that again too. Not professionally just for family and friends.
To wrap it up before I hit TLDR - From all I can tell, this is a very active and friendly community and I am looking forward to being part of it.
