Just assessing the condition of my tools. I have a Smith's little torch (propane/oxy), and I'm trying to figure out what I can fix, and what needs to be replaced completely. The tip I used the most in 2010/2011 was the #7. Just wondering if the appearance of the tips is the way they should be, and if not, can it be brushed off with a brass wire brush? Or is it a complete loss at this point? thanks

If it is clogged boil in some water and blow out the debris from tip back with compressed air. If it is the soot and buildup on outside I don't worry about that on my other torches. If it bothers you take some steel wool and scrub it off. My heavy cutting and brazing rig stays sooted up. I clean the tips with tip files (much larger holes) and sandpaper the face then go on.
