I had some #61 rapid polish laying around so I thought I might give my Burris Creek jaspers an extra bit of shine. But after 3 days so far, all it has done is take off the shine that I had previously gotten from TXP. Seems like people have had success with 'rapid' in vibes, but am I being foolish to try it in a rotary?
My experience with TXP was that even after 1 day it was shining things up significantly after AO1000, so it's very odd to me that the finer-grained polish is just messing things up so far…

Could the stone be scratching itself and removing the previous shine ?

Could the stone be scratching itself and removing the previous shine ? There's only 4 stones, about 1-1.5" each, in the 3lb Thumler barrel, and the rest is small media that is well-rounded.

I have never used rapid polish but instead have used aluminum oxide polish. Could the lack of shine possibly be fixed by a quick burnishing? I would recommend trying that if it is dull at the end of the cycle.

If that doesn't work, maybe try moving back to the txp polish.

In 3 days those few stones might do a lot of rubbing together .

That's interesting. Maybe add more of the rapid polish? I don't see how moving to a finer polish would remove the other polish. I agree with you, that probably shouldn't have happened.
