Luckily the wind seldom blows more than 90 MPH around here, but the other night it toppled one of my 40 year old lilacs. In toppling over, it pried 3 other trunks out. I hadn't realized they got up to 8 inches diameter at their bases.

That's too bad, Dave. I absolutely love lilacs. My grandmother had many. They bring back very fond memories for me. And they smell divine.

Sorry about your lilac bushes, Dave. We have a couple and I love when they bloom in the spring.
rockjunquie my grandma also had lilacs in her yard. Every year she would cut some and give us each a bouquet to give to our teachers when we were in grade school. Lilacs bring back many good memories for me, too.

Dang Dave! That really is a shame...especially for the age of the bush! We had lilacs along our fence line in the house I grew up in here in South Dakota...and of course, I have three lilac bushes in our yard now.

That stinks Dave. Love our lilacs, they were transplanted from my mothers garden. Nothing better than opening the office window and being inundated with the fragrance.

Did you ever notice the aroma in the spring as the first buds start opening? It's marvelous Dave. My wife is always putting various trimmings in a vase in our entry, looks and smells nice...but for my money, nothing beats the lilacs.
