LOL! ME!
I finally decided that I wanted one for several reasons: I like the pictures I see taken with them and we get lost every time we go to my grandson's house and our car isn't getting any younger. I want it for traveling, mohstly. But, it will come in handy for other stuff, too. I have never been a Luddite, I just never really had the need. Now I do.
The bad news is... I have to learn how to use the damn thing! LOL!
I got a Galaxy S20 FE 5G. It is one of the few newer Samsungs that still allow an SD card. Anyone else have one?

Hi Teal Ya knohs I went smarty here Think I got the same Samsung model Its bit funky & annoying w/ keeping display settings It will bombard you with apps I deny everything I can Got the my credit card information I inadvertently clicked on a electric scooter program for a pre-paid 50.00- Mistake. Requested a refund. They complied. Got to be careful Butte I enjoy it. Picture taking is remarkable. It is a psychological salve knowing I have something when off trailsting One thing I’m concerned about is unlimited Internet service I’m dumping my landline & Internet provider I’ve had for 20 years That must be a record, It was economical for unlimited internet service My smarty service says it’s unlimited. Using it as hot spot for my p.c.- I'm not so sure. They may start billing me for overtime. And just try to get a itemized bill ha Its like Amazon. They have all kinds of metrics they expect the fodder to meet. But the numbers are at the subjective whims of the management Anyway smarty is the way of the future Many others will be able to supply the technical wizardry Jus a mohs trying to get by Did you get a tablet too? Your going to really it enjoy it Tela !

I'm glad you got one just for the simple fact that if you should get stuck out alone in an emergency you have a way to get help.
I had an Android for years. Just switched to an iPhone 13 recently when my old Motorola died only because I spend days reading reviews and it had the best reviews and the biggest screen. I wanted the newest Motorola, but the reviews were pretty bad for the same price, so I switched. Still not happy trying to learn how this phone works. It's a PITA. The fact that you pay $1,300 for a phone and don't even get a user manual anymore, really ticks me off.
You'll pick up the basic functions of the phone pretty quick. I find myself having to look up tutorials on how to do things on this phone all time. It's a total waste of time, IMO, when a user manual would take me a couple of seconds to look up the instructions and read them.

We have an old car and we're not in any hurry to run out, in this market, and get another. (Kinda like the house!) So, I really want the security of traveling with a phone.
My SIL loves her Motorola. I like Samsung products. Fingers crossed.

Robin stick with the iPhone if you can. Is hard to switch but iPhone is not bad. I don't have a choice, really. Don't have that kind of money to be throwing around. I do like the camera (if I could figure out how to use it besides just actually taking a picture. It's suppose to be able to do all this stuff but I can't even figure out how to get a menu up to do it. I need to put a couple of hours aside to look it up.

Congrats, rockjunquie. My wife was a legacy phone user for much longer than I thought she would be, but she's loved her smartphones since she got it. She, too, was a Galaxy tablet user when I got her the phone, so it made the transition a bit easier for her. I've been an Android user since the first phones came out and have been completely happy. Shoot me a PM (or a text, LOL) if you have questions. PS, get a good case if you haven't already. I like Spigen as I don't want a thick case like Otterbox. With today's glass, you really don't need a screen protector, IMHO, unless it's going to be carried loosely with a bunch of other items that are metal. I don't know your phone, but if it has an on-screen fingerprint sensor, you might have some issues with a screen protector. Have fun!

Just a heads up I also have cheap flip phones I keep in the cars just in case My Iphone is not with me. Many flip phones are 3G cell service which is being phased out of service completely in 2022. They will just stop working.

as usual I just went into this thing blindly Went AT&T Another old employer Which I really enjoyed
They are not the open user friendly company they used to be they know what there doing-- and treat their clients thusly

Congratulations Tela and it's about damn time I have the S20 Ultra but I don't know what the differences are. When I got this one new in 2020 it took me a few days to detoxify it - literally. There was a lot of preloaded crap from Samsung and Tmobile and Google popping up all over the place. It takes a while but most of that stuff can be turned off and disabled. The best piece of advice I can offer is become thoroughly acquainted with the Apps list and in particular the notification privileges and access permissions. On my phone only a very select list of maybe three to five apps have permission to send me ANY notifications of any kind - every other app has notifications turned off. I also go down the apps list regularly and disable all access permissions (camera, microphone, contacts etc.) and force them to stop running if I'm allowed to. Many of the apps installed by Samsung are not able to be disabled even if they are worthless garbage I'll never use - those I do my best to force stop and block all access permissions. Once you have stabilized it it will be fun to own, I promise

I got my wife the Samsung s21 earlier this year. I think yours has the same or similar cameras. If so, they take very good cab photos, especially in natural light. Get to know the camera app -- how to focus on a specific spot, how to manually set white balance, and how to do a little basic editing on the phone (cropping, contrast, saturation, white balance, etc...)
You are going to love having a cell phone for the purpose of snapping a photo and getting it into a forum post, all in 60 seconds or less.
Get a huge micro SD card if you haven't already -- at least 128gb or 256gb. They are cheap and a great place to save photos and videos without filling up the memory on the phone. Get one that can record data fast enough for the highest resolution video that your phone can record. The old SD speed standards were something like "Class 4" "Class 10" etc... I don't know the names of the newer, faster standards, but the bottom line is that all SD cards have a limit of how fast you can read and write to them. You want one fast enough to keep up with the best quality video your phone can record.
Finally, get a good case that protects the edges of the screen! I learned that one the hard way.

Can anyone recommend an iPhone app that allows adjustments for white balance and other settings when making videos? I just received a new XR iPhone, the lowest-end 10th generation, to replace my now-extinct old phone. I'm surprised at the quality of the out-of-the-box videos it produces but would like to be able to tinker with settings. I'm considering replacing it with a 13 but don't know much about the 13's capabilities in that respect.
I have the Camera+ app but it only works for still images, not videos. It allows for editing as well as many other features. Learning, learning -- it never ends.

No, but it looks like it will do what I have in mind. And the $2.99 price is very right! Thanks for the tip. But the big hurdle for me will be learning to use it. Have pity on us old duffers trying to adjust to a digital world... ETA: It says it works with an ios of 12.0 or better. Can you tell me how to find out that information on my phone?
