Greetings from NE Ohio. Fairly new to tumbling. I enjoy traveling the country, returning with bags of rocks to admire, place in the garden, leave in bowls around my house, and store in the basement. Now I have a small tumbler and have been experimenting with tumbling. I'm partial to our local gem, Ohio Flint. Starting to feel like joining the local rock club so I can learn cutting and cabbing. I have a friend who owns a local rock shop, so sometimes I get to experiment with stock he doesn't care too much about! Hoping to use this forum to troubleshoot some of my experiments!

Welcome to the forum from South Dakota! You will have a TON of people dying to see what you come up with in regards to your Ohio Flint! That's a pretty popular rock around these parts...these parts as in the forum! LOL Lots of people tumble and lots of people make cabochons...and we're always eager to see pictures!

Greetings and felicitations from Charles Town WV. (Think John Brown's pre-Civil War raid.)

Welcome from a fellow buckeye! I'm in Florida now, but grew up in NE Ohio (Hudson) and then lived in NW Ohio for 35 years. Flint Ridge is a great resource and always a lot of fun to visit. 'Course, this time of year you would have to chip through the snow and ice...

Greetings from a fellow Ohioan (Columbus). I think you'll like this place- friendly folk and inspiration abound.
I got touched by the Hand of the Rock God just a year and a half ago, and thanks to this forum I'm already slabbing and cabbing and electroforming. Whatever your goals are, you will find guidance here.
Let us raise a glass to Nether's Farm! May the ice and snow yield soon so that we can once again fill our buckets and strain our deltoids for the love of the only decent lapidary material in our state! Huzzah!

Dang, I'm late to this party. Welcome from another NE Ohioan! Which club are you looking to get into?

Hey there ilenew & gemfreak95 I'm in Vermilion OH! I didn't know there were rock clubs! What?!? Welcome! Yep, there's a few clubs in our general region. From Vermilion the closest would be Parma Lapidary Club, but that's still a bit of a distance for you (and impractical for me). If you're interested, you can check them out at the Rock-a-Rama they host on May 14-15. I'm looking into the possibility of starting a new club for Huron and Erie counties, but haven't gotten very far yet. Side note (and shameless plug): have you noticed the plans for a meet-up at Nether's Farm on the 2nd? link
