Found in Southern WI with other sedimentary rocks Guessing pics will provide the most info with this one (Looks like I'm going to need a manicure):

I'm far from an expert here, but I have a piece that looks almost exactly like yours that I've thought to be banded chert.

Almost looks like English Flint but that wouldn't be laying around here in the States !
