Finally because the Brazillian agate started approx 30 Jan 22 and traveled 1917 miles across the united states. This part of the pink quartz started tumbling 5 March 22 and traveled the same distance both tumbling the entire way. I'm pretty pleased.

Wow... All very cool!
I'm amazed that this one managed to not break apart!
Turn it vertically 180º and it would resemble a small rock shofar!

LazerFlash I am too. May I ask what a shofar is?

nursetumbler - Fantastic looking tumbles!! Well traveled...and well polished! LazerFlash - I had to look up "shofar"! I didn't know the name of it... "shofar, also spelled shophar, plural shofroth, shophroth, or shofrot, ritual musical instrument, made from the horn of a ram or other animal, used on important Jewish public and religious occasions. In biblical times the shofar sounded the Sabbath, announced the New Moon, and proclaimed the anointing of a new king."

Ok, how do you tumble for 1900 miles? I'm picturing you driving across the country in a cement mixer truck full of rocks. Please tell me that's correct.

I love that you do this while you’re traveling for work. Gives me hope for our retirement plans!! So pretty, thanks for sharing. And still, so sorry we missed you at the Ohio Flint mine. But, we travel for work a lot too. Just returned to OH from Bloomington, MN. So maybe we can still meet up somewhere?? Miami is next first two weeks of July.

If you know the movie "The Ten Commandments" (with Charlton Heston as Moses). think of the scene in the movie when Moses (and Joshua) come down off of Mt. Sinai, they discover that Dathan has lured the children of Israel to sin, and Joshua sounds his horn to get their attention. That is a shofar.
Also, they can be very simple to incredibly ornate, varying in price from $25-30 to thousands of dollars. Interestingly enough, my nephew has a relatively simple shofar - not all that different in shape and color to the stone nursetumbler created - that I gave him for his bar mitzvah. For years after that, he was often asked to blow his shofar during High Holiday services. There are many who claim that his tones were purer and louder than the ones produced by a much more elaborate shofar owned by another synagogue member.
