I also bought a parcel of Owyhee rough from Roy two years ago. When I slabbed it there was different types. This cab was made from what was identified as Spring Mountain. I also bought a few small pieces of Gem Owyhee from Tony (catmandewe) at fullmoon facebook. nice cab

this will be a huge open pit mine and for what to to so called green energy battery cars it take coal to power plants big enough to supply power to charge this green thing is a big lie Less than 20% of US electricity production is from coal and it is going down every year. Over 21% is from renewables and it is going up every year. If you add nuclear to renewables because it doesnt produce greenhouse gases, then the figure is about 40%. It is short sighted to argue that a battery which gets 60% of its energy from fossil fuels is worse than an internal combustion engine that gets 100% of its energy from fossil fuels. Especially because the 60% for the battery is continually going down while the 100% for the ICE will never go down. Should we wait until 100% of electricity production is renewable before selling any electric vehicles? hey i live close to hanford that site may never be cleaned up ! you can call nuclear is green thats just nuts the waste from that is awful same as the batterys from the cars when they go bad and the wind mills are a joke cracked blades made of fiberglass put in a pit and covered up really!!

Does anyone know anything about getting a US mailing address fairly close to the border? Ideally I’d do a couple large orders from Kingsley & Rock Shed and drive down to pick them up on a long weekend. From what I’ve seen USPS requires you to go in person to set it up which is obviously not super appealing. I don’t think I would bother with one of those “Ship to Me” places where they give you an address at their shop but I suppose it’s no different than USPS (except they charge for accepting packages, repackong/consolidating and then again for forwarding it onto you). I’m trying to save a few bucks, buy more rocks, not give any more money to FedEx and have a reason to justify a road trip. Help? i have alot of customers that have them i think you just go in and fill out the paper work

We have been collecting rocks for years. Have a huge collection, rocks everywhere. Lots of rivers and creeks in Sonoma County plus not far from the ocean here in California. Which makes for easy rock hounding. Always wondered what's inside the rocks when the outside is so pretty. Well now I might find out but I need some help! Recently we purchased a Raytech 18" slab saw at a auction. It had been donated so they had no information. Well it's having a problem staying running, it starts up then shuts down right away. We replace the power relay switch this didn't solve the problem. It also has a micro pressure switch which I have been trying to locate. However not sure if this is our problem. When I did a search for the Raytech 18" saw, I found this forum. I started to realize we have a true gem of a saw. According to @junsil who stated it was like the Roles Royce of saws. I saw quite a few of you also have this saw perhaps you know what the issue could be? Really excited to get it up and running. I have already reached out to Rick Shaw who is out of the office this week. We would really appreciate all your advice and knowledge to help us. Thanks, Randy and Patty do your self a favor and wire around all that stuff

Welcome from AZ Like rockbrain said, best to trace the wires from the motor back, using plenty of respect for the electricity. The no touch current sensors are good for the basic check, but a voltmeter will be needed if it's less than obvious. That saw appears to have a separate motor for the feed, does it also stop? If so I would trace from wall plug forward to wherever they split, if the feed keeps running it will be after the split. I lookes at the article that probably got you here and it looks like the saw was made for production cutting. The reverse spin on the saw blade is curious, since no other manufacturer looked at it and copied it I can't call it better, but this saw should be left that way since the vice and everything was designed around it. I have looked at a couple big Raytech saws, but never had one close. AzRockGeek do you have one? catmandewe I'm sure one or 2 have passed through your hands. roy looks like you have a couple of them maybe? i rebuilt two and Tony took them

I know it seems like we're dragging our feet on this, but there is a lot going on and it may be some time before and IF we can take care of Ed. There are a number of options for doing this and much will depend on what his family is going to do. For the purpose of THIS thread and poll-- I am only asking how much you are willing and able to commit/pledge to a flat out fundraiser for Ed. Our options depend on how much we can raise. So, be generous. At some point, in the near future, we will ask for the money that you pledged. We are trusting the honor system for this because we don't want to put anyone on the spot. Remember- you contribute what you can. No judgements here. But, try to reach as deep as you're comfortable doing. This will let us know how to proceed. Payment details to follow. So, to recap- How much are you able to contribute towards what ever we are able to do for Ed? ALL THE REST AND THE DETAILS WILL BE WORKED OUT LATER. I will keep everyone up to date in another thread. UPDATE 6-24-23
beefjello Brian has been kind enough to forward my info to Ed's brother in law. I'm thinking we have enough pledges to do what we want to do. It will still depend on what the family is doing, but we have the funds regardless. So, I am closing the pledge poll. If you still really want to donate, you can pm me. Thank you everyone!! You have really pulled through for Ed. This is a testament to how much he was loved and admired. I'll be posting again soon about collecting the pledges from both the poll and PMs.
its my busy season at work so i have not been on here much at all so sorry to hear the news Ed was always a great dude and posted lots of fun stuff ! if you come up short or need anything please let me know we can get it handled !

I agree with aDave. I don't think I'd be looking at Craigslist for rough. What form of rough are you looking for? Rough to slab, slabs to make cabs, tumbling rough? The forum Marketplace is a good place to start no matter what. You can also post a wanted to buy post if you have something in particular you're looking for. If anyone has some, they will let you know. There are also some folks on the board who have Etsy or other stores where they sell rock as well as finished goods. Checking at the bottom of posts will show a person's store link if they have a store and put the link in. Tony catmandewe and roy sell slabs on facebook at the Full Moon Rock Shop as well as some other folks that they know. thank you i also have a web page rbrockshop.com and can take custom orders
