Clear coat is very soft, so it would come off easily but the small flakes could make quite a mess. You can soak the stones in a solvent like acetone first. Or tumble them shortly with just some water and sharp rough stones, then wash and tumble as usual.

It is a scam site. Here is the real site, which has an address in New Jersey, not California, and they do not sell lapidary equipment. www.daronwwt.com/
I have seen scam sites like this before. Just because they take Paypal does not mean you are protected. If they use fake bank accounts, all they have to do is close up that account and open a new one once they have your money.

Wow, that's such a vibrant color! Where did you source the rough if you don't mind me asking? Guessing it's too soft for my skill level, but perhaps some day. Opals can vary quite a bit in hardness depending on both water content and aluminum oxide content. The lower the water content and the higher the aluminum oxide content, the harder the stone is.

I just put mine in the rotary with some really rough chalcedony and water and let them run a while.
Rarely ever use the ceramic pellets though. I prefer to use the chips from breaking up the rocks as my fill.

Welcome from Southern Nevada.
Different types of stones may need different polishes. For example, most stones do well with aluminum oxide. Glassier stones I believe is what cerium oxide is primarily used for. Soft stones I like a tiny amount of Zam on the buffing wheel.
Also, denim works really well for polishing a lot of stones. You can cut up old blue jeans and make buffing wheels with them.
