Eventually I'll move into tumbling when I have more room to expand. This was an interesting thread in anticipation.

Have a friend in the states receive it for you(you buy it)and have them ship it to you. You should be able to save a few bucks that way.

Thanks for the advice on where to purchase, and you make absolute sense Don. So, we are now inadvertent silver bullion collectors - we bought low, Go Silver!

To me it looks like a forest scene shrouded in fog from Mordor. Wonderful.

ToivO,thanks for the reply. Where do you buy your sheets and wire, Don and others? We are obviously looking in the wrong places as prices were way over $3 above spot. But then, hey , we know nothing yet we're noobs.

My wife is starting to fool around with metal smithing, mostly copper but thinking about using sterling silver. Looking at the prices for silver wire or flats, we realized they were asking crazy prices. Since we have a rolling mill we looked into buying silver bullion in 1 ounce bars and rounds. Dirt cheap compared to Jewelry supply shops.
Anyway thought we'd share the idea if by some chance no one had thought of it before.

WOW, what beautiful and I would think difficult to work material. I'm new here so I don't know your work but you are obviously very skilled, and brave I might add to cab the Seraphinite and Larimar.

"..The stone in question is not an Agate. an Agate will scratch at least a 6 on the mohs scale whereas the Prism only scratches a 3.5. It is very soft and falls apart easily. The mineral composition is mainly Amethyst, Chryascolla, Fluorite, very little malachite and azurite."
This was a quote from the K-scope page on Ebay.

The Kscope from Utah is also know as "Utah Prism Jasper", a much softer material but very pretty in it's own right. Here's an example from my collection;

I sure do like the Kscope jasper - have a few pieces myself but I'm waiting for the rock to tell me what to do; slab, cab or leave as specimens with a nice polish. It doesn't last long on Brian's FB page.

Hey, nice find! Can anyone post a photo of what these look like when processed? I'm also new to lapidary and haven't run across these before. Must be nice to find good material in your backyard!
