I have some material but no saw. None of it is too large; Maybe 6 inches at most. And I don't need a ton of slices either. Maybe just facing some pieces for display.
Willing to pay or feel free to keep a portion of the material or let me know if there's something in particular you're looking for. I'm not really sure what the going rate is. I'll send a return shipping label as well.
PM me.

I've bought nice material from Stone Age Industries, but they offer more chunks for cutting than crushed material for tumbling. I've also bought from The Little Red Store which has limited, but nice material for cutting/tumbling. As spiceman suggest, your best deal will likely come from one of the RTH members. Check out the Buy, Sell and Swap section. Darryl. Thank you. I'll check out the companies you mentioned. I should have been more clear in my original post. I'm looking specifically for vendors online where I can select specific material I want to purchase. The Rock Shed is great, but may not carry certain material I'm looking for. Yes, I'm familiar with the Buy Sell Swap section.

Aside from The Rock Shed and eBay, what are some other websites you purchase from to get good deals?

Wondering if there's anyone who would be willing to make something like this for me for a reasonable price or trade. I have some cheap ones from eBay, but would like some made from material i personally collected. I have jadeite and nephrite, but also think these would look cool in Montana agate and moss agate.

What's the minimum quantity to get the $10/kg rate?
Would you be willing to send small samples of the material?

I've owned iguanas, turtles, frogs, a snake and some anoles when I was a kid. Also had a Nile monitor that was aggressive as hell. That thing would try to attack me through the glass anytime I was near its tank. Eventually, it seemed hazardous to try to care for it, so I just had the humane society take it away.

I took a hobby (reptiles) and ran it thru many stages. It did end up being a solid career. But one can stop at any stage. I assume breeding and sales. What kind of reptiles?

That rock is gonna look dope. Bloodstone takes a beautiful shine fairly effortlessly.

Not that that's my goal; Just a curious question for those who have some equipment that isn't cheap. I tumble for enjoyment and as a collector. I suspect that the margins are pretty slim and the market is fairly niche for tumbled stones. Perhaps there's interest from fellow collectors, or those who are into metaphysics or reiki practitioners. I dunno.
What about cabbing? I don't have any plans to start making cabochons, but i'm not ruling it out.

That's a lot of material. There's no way you'll be able to tumble it all unless you have, say, nine 15 lb tumblers or something crazy like that.

If I were you, I'd just go for it and see what works and what doesn't. Most tutorials offer sound guidelines, but they're not steadfast rules. A lot of the timeframes are arbitrary.
Apatite will weather away pretty quickly and probably won't take a great polish in a rotary. You can certainly use stage 1 to shape, but I would check the barrel after a day or two. Ditto for labradorite.
If you're using SiC grit, rounding the rubies and saphhires will be a slower process, since SiC is only marginally harder.

I think you did receive ocean jasper, but probably not the most desirable patterns (based on my personal preference). I prefer numerous, smaller orbs on my specimens and I do see some indications of orbs on yours, but they look fairly large. I do think they'll look nice once you tumble and the orbs become more apparent. Right now, the roughness kind of hides them.
Not sure how large those are, but assuming their smaller than 2", I'd probably just toss them in the tumbler.

Howdy folks!! I am trying a project where I mix ground up blue turquoise in epoxy snd pour it into cracks in wood. Therefore I need some good colored and easy to grind turquoise. Cheap, did I mention very inexspensive??? LOL I have a small amount of turquoise rubble from Mina, NV you can have for free if you pay $3.25 for shipping. There's not a ton, and some of it is matrix material, but you can take a look and let me know if you want it. I'll upload a picture of it tonight.

If you toss 'em in a tumbler, the jagged edges round out fairly quickly.

I know who won first place! I'm now officially half as good as Drummond Island Rocks . Juggler Guy is the new first place winner of the Worldwide Rock Tumbling Competition! Here are the winning entries: Feather River Lapidary and Mineral Society would like me to send them a picture of myself when I receive my trophy. Sorry, meviva , you're being replaced. My son just got his senior pictures taken, so I think I might need to hire his photographer for a photo shoot. My wife suggested that I get sponsors and plaster them all over my clothes like a race car. I might just have to get a shirt made. I promised johnjsgems that I'd tell everyone that I used his OMG2 polish. So that will have to be on my shirt. I'll work on a design tonight and post it here later. No surprise here. I admire your work and hope someday that I can consistently achieve similar results. But I hate your new avatar.
