When I started rock tumbling 2.5 years ago, I had problems getting past a Hazy Shine. Advice on this forum led me to longer Stage 1 tumbles, and the generous use of Plastic Beads in the 600 Grit Stage and beyond into all the polish stages.

I dropped the nut from my Lortone tumbler in the garage, I could see where it fell, but after 15 minutes I still could not find it and gave up. For a coupla months I would still look around and see if I could spot it, but no. I ordered and received a new nut. Two months after I lost it, I found it 4 feet away behind a door frame under a coupla dried leaves.

I did a coupla cleanouts today and made a video.
Cleanout Sink for Rock Tumbler Barrels with Grit Recovery
Cleaning out a Rock Polishing Barrel is a messy process that usually takes a long time to complete. I got tired of this quickly and also wanted to recover any unused grit that may remain in the used rock slurry.
So I made an outdoor sink with a small table surface to make it all cleaner, easier and faster. In this video I will Clean Out two 6 pound tumbler barrels in about 10 minutes. The Tumbler being used is a Lortone QT66. The Grit Recovery System is explained in detail.
----------- Never wash used tumbler slurry down a regular household drain because the slurry will settle out and eventually clog up the plumbing. -----------

When I bought my QT66 tumbler, I also ordered an extra belt. Been tumbling for 2.5 years with it so far and haven't needed the spare belt yet. I remember the V belt to run a little loose and shed a fair amount of rubber powder inside the cover.

Sounds like too much water. In Stage 1 the water should be well below the level of the rocks.

The rotary Tumblers have been powered Off for a few months. They had been sitting full of rocks that had rolled in Stage 1 for about 2 weeks. Yesterday I turned them on, after 5 minutes I could hear the contents rolling sluggishly in a thick slurry.
Went ahead and did a cleanout of the two 6 pound barrels, one had some plain ole rocks, and the other one had various varieties of Counter Top Material in there, which was looking great while wet.
Starting two more barrels, one is full of rocks that have passed Stage 1 inspection and are finally moving on to the polish stages. I'm anxious to get this running so I can eventually make some YouTube videos that feature my Cleanout Sink and how simple and fast it makes things. The 2nd barrel was reloaded with countertop material still running in Stage 1. Almost have enough passed through Stage 1 to go on through polish. Am really wanting to see this stuff Polished.
I'm not completely lost, yet . . .

Yes , Make sure the barrel is very full, more than 80%.
And , that looks like the perfect Slurry Thickness to help protect the small stones and to get the Best Grinding action.

This is very fresh. Taped it this morning 2 miles from home.
World Record 4923 Model Rockets Launched Simultaneously The U.S. Space & Rocket Center museum in Huntsville Alabama launched at the Guinness Book of World Records on Tuesday July 16 2019. Simultaneously firing 4,923 of 5,000 rockets to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch 50 years ago. 5,000 model rockets were readied, 77 did not launch, a success rate of better than 98 percent. The launch went off a couple of minutes after the scheduled launch at 8:32 a.m. , 50 years after the exact moment the Saturn V lifted from Cape Canaveral on July 16, 1969 to begin its journey to ferry the first men to the surface of the moon. The event on grounds near the museum attracted a crowd of about 2,500 spectators – including hundreds of Space Camp students, Apollo 15 astronaut Al Worden, Marshall Space Flight Center Director Jody Singer and Wernher Von Braun’s daughter Margrit. The previous Guinness World Record of 4,231 model rockets were launched at Teylingen College during a European Space Science Convention in the Netherlands, in summer 2018.

Michael Jackson's first use of Pyro during a Performance with Jackson Five
This was Filmed on Super 8mm silent film sometime around 1978 in Memphis Tennessee. I was working for a Pyro Company called Luna Tech which also did some lighting in their early days. We provided a small amount of lighting for the show, but we were there mainly to provide a Live Demonstration of the types of pyrotechnics that were available from our company. This was my camera and film. It was transferred to VHS video around 1995 and then transfered to Digital in July 2019. --- No Audio ---

I will say that it will be OK, might even shine up better than straight 1200 AO.

I have created a YouTube channel and will post some rather unique things over time. There is a few electronical videos on there already but my latest video is kinda timely since it is related to Apollo 11.
This was video taped at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville Alabama, billed as Earths Largest Space Museum on the 30th Anniversary of Apollo 11 landing on the Moon.
Featured are the Interior of the full scale Lunar Lander model and the inside of the Engine Compartment at the bottom of of a real Saturn Five Booster Stage complete with F1 engines installed.
I was working doing the lighting for the space museum celebration of the 30th anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon by Apollo 11, so I had total access to the space hardware to mount the lighting.
Taped in July 1999 on Hi8 video tape and transferred digitally 20 years later in July 2019
