I was just curious how many here preform? not just breaking off the weird potusions (trying to eliminate areas that would catch grit) but actually grinding all the hard edges and sharp corners to speed things up. vs how many just throw the rough in the barrel and just let them do their thing?

2nd box in great stuff! I didn't want to get greedy but I might take another box of the rough since no one else seems to be biting. the roughs look like they may work better for tumbling imho. I may have to build a flat lap to play around with the slabs. you sure are making my life hard.

got my box of uncut rough in yesterday. yep you heard right yesterday. usps tracking said delivered Saturday. went to post office Monday morning and told them the tracking said delivered but I didn't get it. Tuesday morning they showed up whoever they delivered to wrote wrong address on the box and stuck it out for them to pick up. my other box should be in today. seems usps held them up in Rochester ny for 3 days. if they are half as cool as the box of uncuts was ill be over the moon. super deal for the amount of material you get. and a lot of variety for those new to tumbling. kudos to Jeremy for sharing stones at a GREAT price. the rocks here in ny are so boring lol.

in an article I read it was discribed as this. course grind shapes stones. all other grits remove scratches from previous grit. the article suggested wetting stones and using a good magnifying glass or jewlers loop to look at scratches from grit. when all deep scratches from previous grits are removed its time to move to next grit.

I would be interested what size flat rate box do you think a bucket would fit in? Freight included, so doesn't really matter for what you're paying. well in that case ill take 1 cut and 1 of the uncut lol

I'm all over my being bummed out cause my big rock was granite now. I walked out my back door down to the creek behind my house figured ide look in the water, seeing as how running water is the only water that isn't frozen over right now. if anything looked interesting I would walk back up to the house and grab my waders. I turned around looked at the washed out bank and found these and a few pieces of quartz. not bad for a 10 minute rock hounding trip trudging through the snow in a tee shirt.

could very well be granite. next question is you think I could break it up and tumble it? I mean granite takes a good polish for countertops and what not. and it has a nice look especially on the ends with all the pink and black spots. even if I threw out the big boring black chunk out of the center.
