My saw dose that but my belt is slipping Have not changed it yet I sure hope that's not the case- it's a sealed unit. But, I don't think it is, especially since the crimped blade runs fine.
The Ameritool is direct drive, so no belt to cause what you're experiencing. Pardon me for asking this, but is there any chance that your new blades slowed down when they hit harder areas of the slabs? Or perhaps the new blades just need some breaking-in?

I don't know, Gary, I'm thinking you could make one helluva cab with that scene. I see a tree, some lightning, and the eye. Once you get your saw fixed of course... Maybe in time for the giant cab contest...

You didn't mention that the 4" bogged down. Is it an MK 303, too? Is it new, too? The only thing that I can think of is that the depth of the sintered diamond means that the sides are rubbing against the cut. If so, extra care in feeding the slab straight on at the blade should reduce any friction.
I've thought of buying one of the smaller MK 303s for my Ameritool trim saw, so I'm interested and hoping that a solution can be found.

While slabbing last night I took an initial slice off of this Picasso Jasper and was confronted by this ominous "evil eye" staring at me. It seemed to be saying, "Stop!!" And sure enough, now the saw is out of alignment or the blade is a little wonky. "Do not seek the treasure!" keeps playing in my head.

We were about 30 miles away in Beaverton, Oregon watching spellbound by the the ash and lightning, concerned about all the people in the path of the ash as it drifted to the north and east.

Hi Gary.
Slab "A" is Willow Creek.
Slab "C" maybe from the Cady's? That guess might inspire someone to give you a definitive ID. Probably from a completely different area... .
Something about slab "D" reminds me of Sci Fi / Exotica "Jasper". Except for the large area that's so different from the rest of it.
I have no clue about "B".
Thanks, Vince.
Yep, Willow Creek for A. The two mosses could be from so many places. The rhyolite looking material sure reminds me of bullseye jasper from Goldfield, Nevada but Nevada has a lot of good rhyolite locations.
Thanks for the rhyolite suggestion. Google's image search recognized Slab D as igneous and yielded a couple of general links.

Nice collection, Jason! They're out of the tub, toweled down, and waiting for you to dress them up. I think I hear a chorus of "Me first!!"

Four from a mixed parcel of unidentified slabs that have just sat waiting for me to ID them. I'm past the "good luck with that" point and could use some help. Thanks.

Based on his creations, brotherbill frequently solders bezels down on textured backplate. Do you have any suggestions, Bill?

Can't offer any advice myself, except to point out that the Ganoksin archive has more than a dozen discussions on polishing amber. It might be worth reading those posts: Polish Amber

Welcome from Washington State.
In the 90s I had a job that required occasional travel to Europe, primarily to Eindhoven to visit our European headquarters, but also Amsterdam, Arnhem and other locations. Good memories!

Terrific show with great finds — thanks! When I saw your second rock I saw some squinty little eyes and a twisted mouth. It seemed to be saying ....

Well, you may be in luck, standles. I empty the wastebasket so infrequently where I do cutting, so I poked around in the bottom and found the two small slabs that I tossed. PM me if you want them.
