idrockman,
I can't help you with the jasper, but I might be able to with photos.
Set up a photobucket acct and download the photos there. Then copy (I believe) the IGN link into your message here (you can do many) and the photos appear in your message. This allows the multiple photos display that you see here. Just watch out for the size of the photos (you can edit them in photobucket.)
Just a suggestion.
(Also - I'm part of a group creating an Agate/Jasper database and if you have any local idaho material in that group, please submit photos on my thread in Rock Identification along with general location - if you don't mind.)
Anyway, try giving the photobucket account a try.

Nebraska, Minnesota, and Wisconsin (see other threads) are the next areas I'll be requesting images for.
`After these three states, I will be moving over into Texas (yes, TEXAS! - Which will be a beast, but I'm ready to tackle a giant).
We are now requesting images of material from the great states of Nebraska for this thread. The images can be of rough, polished specimens, cabs, or tumbled stones. If you have any that you're willing to share, please post with a brief note on the region and its common name (if it has one.) Credit for the photo will be assigned to your name or online title (or not at all if that's your choice.)
Any material that fits under the heading agate/jasper is welcome to be posted here, even if it is from lesser known locations.
There are many places that would be readily known to people outside the state. We'd love to see samples of these. If in doubt, POST!

Last month I related the story of George Carpenter, a retired police officer and rockhound suffering from dementia who disappeared two days before Christmas, 2009. At the time no clues were available as to where he may have been. (He had driven away before and wound up near California City and was found suffering from dehydration.) New and disheartening information has been uncovered. On January 20th, near the town of Gorda off Highway 1, George Carpenter’s dog Scooter, which had been with him when he disappeared, was found. The dog was in fair condition, though thin. This discovery led to an increased search effort and Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies, during an aerial search, found his vehicle outside the Fort Hunter Liggett grounds, which is at an elevation of 3,300 feet. It was unoccupied. At the time a light snow was falling and the snow level had dropped to 2,000 feet. On January 31, Scooter was taken to the location where the car had been found in hopes that he might be able to lead the search team to Mr. Carpenter’s whereabouts. The effort failed. At this point, all additional official searching has been called off and authorities have told family members not to attempt to search the area themselves due to the rough terrain. The Facebook site which had been set up for Mr. Carpenter has been shut down. For notes, see the following: z10.invisionfree.com/usedtobedoe/index.php?showtopic=54924&view=getnewposthelpfindthemissing.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19546

VOLUME 2 is ready: Wyoming and Montana The second index has been put together and is ready to be launched. It's 34 pages long. The vast majority of material is from Wyoming. We have not had much luck getting Montana material (we have three entries.) To download the newest volume goto: www.4shared.com/file/224404408/51585e57/Agate_Index_Vol_2.htmlIt is over 10 MB so it is 3 times the size of Volume 1 in memory. VOLUME 1: Utah and Colorado is still here. (I have material to add, but I'm waiting to put out the updated version.) www.4shared.com/file/221879833/810dc669/Agate_Index_Vol_1.htmlMany people here have given me permission to 'poach' their pictures for use in the database. SO: Please please please - if you have anything to add, post, send it to me via email, or just drop me an IM saying that I can use your photos. (See below.) Please review the Index and post your comments. It needs to work for you and changes are easier made today than when this thing is twice as long or there are 8 or 10 indexes already circulating. I really want to get word of mouth going on this. This is free - meant to be free - and it's designed to be functional (and hopefully pretty to look at), and it's to be built by YOU! My next step is this: I edit the Ventura Gem and Mineral Newsletter which gets me access to a ton of gem club editor contacts across the US. Guess who I'll be submitting articles to in the next month or so asking for material? I want this to grow! (Heck, and it's free! When else are you going to be able to get anything for free in this world that's actually functional?) So - final word today, I promise - if you don't have time to post and you are willing to let me 'poach' the photos you have already posted in other threads, then just send me an IM or reply to this thread and give permission for me to use your images, essentially mention that I can copy your images, and I'll add them to the database. For example, SteveHolmes said I could copy anything he's added, so I've gone through the cabochon listings and specimen listings and 'poached' what he had up. Saves him time and we get the photos included on the database. I (and Mel) will be IMing individuals as we see images that would fit well into the index or think an individual possesses material that would enhance and improve the database. I hope this doesn't feel too intrusive. Thanks to all who's given material, given advice, given encouragement, or just have been following these posts. Lowell

Interesting.
Just imagine the mess if he blows a tire...
or if the front shaft goes while he's standing there...
Headlines in paper:
"Man Run Over by Hit and Run Tumbling Machine"
He'd be hard pressed to live that one down.

Gene Roddenberry of Star Trek fame was evidently a huge fan of decorative material. I vaguely remember seeing specimens adorning the shelves of some of the characters on his sci-fi series - especially the next generation.

Went back to that estate sale in Santa Paula on Saturday - still $1.00 a pound. Hunted two hours before nature decided the rocks needed to be wet and the downpour came. The unknown rocks before the ones I know: (Figured I'd just pile everything here instead of posting twice...) Jasper: ? location - I know there's a lot of places where similar material can be found, but one can hope... Bought about 15 pounds in four chunks of this. Unknown nodule-top and bottom Brazilian? Carnelian? Prairie? Fossilized brain? Heck if I know... From large to small nodules: Five or six of these were found trampled into the mud: There was quite a bit of this stuff laying around. I picked up a slab out of curiousity. and last unknown: Pretty slab with some yellow fortification banding mixed in: The known: Clutch of Dugway geodes - some showing wear as if they were collected on the surface (which I would assume dates them back quite a ways.) About 10 pieces of wonderstone: Limbs and casts: A few small chunks of copper minerals for my students: A few pieces of polka dot agate: About 10 pounts of 'pigeon blood' or whatever this stuff turns out to be. And finally my favorite (though smallest) purchase of the day: Royal Aztec Lace Agate Thanks for looking. Lowell

Mel,
I'm not sure which side of the border it sits on. If it's oregon, I'll just shift the images in that state and make reference that in the Idaho list where some people might look. But this is not the only site with this condition. I see a similar issue with McDermitt's material. That border also runs right through the region.
To all who would be using this index - Any opinion(s) on how you want to deal with sites that straddle multiple states?
