If I ran across a bucket of those , I would certainly look through them carefully for some good stuff. Meaning it looks interesting but its hard to tell what you have from photos. You certainly have a variety of color. The last pic looks like quartzite, the next to last hematite nodules, and the next ? But do some of the ones with cavities appear to have vugs or indications of agates. It would be agate and jasper material that could be represented in some of the darker rocks with indications of a silicated origin. That area appears to be focus of a large wind farm. Is it accessible to the wayward rock hound or only to construction crews and owner authorized folks? I'll have to go through it all some more, I'm still pretty new so I'm not sure what to look for to identify agates or jasper but those are what I'm most interested in.
As far as I know everything out there is private property, and you'd need to permission to rock hound.

Found these in West Texas, 40 miles East of Fort Stockton and atop Sherbino Mesa.
If anyone has any idea what some of these may be, or advice on what I should look for next time I go out there please let me know.

That's a very fine grained rhyolite similar to wonderstone or the material found at the Goldfield Gem claims in Nevada. Found pretty often in the Rio Grande / Uvalde Gravels and most likely transported there from the region around the Stillwell Rch where there are several rhyolite deposits.h Thanks for the info, I really appreciate the detail.
I'm hoping to find some more of it next time I go rockhounding. It's one of the more interesting rocks I've found out there.

Great looking batch, with good mix of colors! Curious about where in West Texas the rocks are from? I've collected in some different areas out there and found some great material! Keep'em rollimg and can't wait to see them finished up! 30-40 Minutes East of Fort Stockton.

Very nice! Are you running these in a rotary tumbler? Very good shapes for a week's time! Yes running in a Lortone QT-66. Appears that the tiger eye is nice rough. The last I got was pretty sad, full of pits. That's to bad, I'm pretty happy with how the ones I got turned out, where did you order yours from?

Thanks for the advice, I've added some ceramics and am looking at the various crushed rock. I've got a bunch of rock that I picked up recently from a ranch my family has in west Texas so already a bit behind with things I want to get tumbling.

I'm wanting to get started in this hobby with a setup that will last a while. I've read a bunch of information on these forums and am just about ready to place an order but first wanted to post it here just to be sure I'm not overlooking anything. I plan to follow what is described in this post: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/post/942112
