liveoak love your winter landscape! It made me feel a bit sad. Your contest photo is very nice. Thanks PS. Since it's still 95 degrees here, thinking of a cold winter day is actually almost refreshing Patty

Pebblesky, my wife selected the area that she wanted me to cab and saw clouds in the middle section and then I framed it by the top design. If you look closely my pencil marks show some ideas for designs.

Pebblesky, this is the second Biggs cab I made for the contest but was not entered. It is 7x1.75”

Great flurry of entries - all of them are very very nice and it's going to be another tough vote. Not sure how it happened but I've got two days off before the end of the month so I'm still holding out hope of getting one done. Surprisingly to myself I don't have a great selection of landscape material left so I haven't been able to choose a preform yet. I'm kind of thinking outside the box and considering a piece of Indo root wood that looks like tall yellow flames rising above blackened land ... or a piece of Picasso marble that looks like a burnt forest ... because it's CA and all ...

First time in a while I've had a chance to look at the entries. Wow! I knew there would be some really good entries. You all are exceeding my expectations!

I don't care what you say Tommy , I like it. A nice starry night it is indeed ! You know for me anyway, the challenge does a couple of things, one of them is that it forces me to get on my wheels & complete something, in a time frame, even when I have all kinds of other work stuff clogging my brain. It's a nice push. Glad it pushed you this month. Patty

Nice cab Tommy. And like Patty says, a little motivation to get on the cabber at least once a month is nice, all I got to this month.

Greetings! This is my first time entering a cab into the prestigious RTH cab contest. With so many great entries so far I was hesitant to enter, but figured might as well submit one! I cut one for last months cab contest but misplaced the stupid thing and didn't find it until a few days after the contest closed, so I kind of just wanted to finally enter one without losing it first lol. Not sure what the material is, I'm thinking Owyhee Picture Jasper? I picked it up with a ton of other rough from an old time rockhounder that was selling everything he had. I got a few other rocks that had Owyhee scribbled on them and after looking online I'm thinking this might be Owyhee too. Hopefully someone will chime in if that's the right ID or not! Contest photo: Side view: Size reference: I didn't take a picture of the slab but here is the rock I cut the slab from: Good luck to all and thanks for looking!!

Goldfinder, another possibility might be Succor Creek. The chunk I had was softer than my Owyhee material and would scratch pretty easily. Very nice cab goldfinder!

I wasn't sure if I was going to get a cab done for this month's contest. Got 'er done almost last minute though! LOL - Some of you know last year I cut out over a thousand preforms...stupidly! Well, I have a ton of Picture Jasper cabochons that I have already done...and a ton of preforms already cut. With that many preforms ready to go (and so many completed and waiting to be wrapped), I just couldn't justify cutting out another preform. I didn't "need" another landscape cab. So, if anyone feels that disqualifies me since I didn't start from a slab this month, don't be afraid to speak up...I will withdraw. The first shot is of the preforms I picked out as possibilities...but after looking at them some more, I only worked the one on the bottom right. I decided to leave this as a high some to give the scene in the rock a bit more depth (figuratively and literally I guess! LOL) I call this one "Sandstorm Over The Bluff". If you look closely at the picture taken outside, you can see a house off to the right...and clouds in the sky...a true landscape piece! LOL There have been some amazing looking entries this month...so way to go everyone! ( Tommy , the first two shots of the completed cab are the ones for judging...if I'm not disqualified...) Owyhee Cripple Creek Picture Jasper

I can see the house and the cloud. That is very nice. Reminded me of some shots in Dune (without a sandworm, fortunately or unfortunately).

I was FINALLY able to see the new Dune not that long ago! Great remake! (I loved the original!) Now I'm dying for the second half to get released...although I hear it won't be until next year!! Sheesh!

Lee Rockoonz 's entry, especially this photo reminds me not of the Red Sea parting, but of the backside of the lower torso of someone about to plunk their hiney into an oversized saddle, lol.
