Some interesting materials before and after 5 days of step 1 tumble: Before, dry: After, dry: The left piece sets itself apart by rounding up much quicker than the rest. It also has a different tone in color, light pink purple and white while the others are more typically brown and yellow. A couple of these paler pieces are ready for stage 2. I will be quite happy with their look if they don't polish.

2024/06/15 Took some time in the morning to wash another batch from stage 1. Shown in the picture are the ones ready for stage 2. Since I have accumulated enough for a stage 2 run, the vibe started to work again.

Most of these are materials that I have been tumbling over the past months, except several brown yellow pink Nguni Jasper pieces that are my new favorite tumbling materials.

Looking good. Are the greenish ones in the upper middle the ones you mentioned that you call jade in the other thread?

Looking good. Are the greenish ones in the upper middle the ones you mentioned that you call jade in the other thread? No, the one you pointed out, I don't remember where it came from, but all my self finds are either quite small or quite fractured, or they don't polish, or all of the above. I don't have much success in tumbling my self finds.

2024/06/28 I took photos of the finished batch at night and uploaded the pictures without realizing some were blur. Will see if I can amend tomorrow morning. Two Swazis and one Bot. This one is so satisfying. Eventually reveal the crispy bands and it is fracture free. Another Swazi. A Bot.

Gobi Jaspers always look color palettes when put together: But some individual pieces are like color palettes by themselves:

Goodness! I missed a couple of your posts. It was really fun catching up on this thread. Your tumbles are amazing. The Mozambique agates are really attractive. I’ve been seeing a few bots with spots lately too. That is some nice sand to take photos on too.
Thanks for sharing your work.

Those have a great polish on them! I have some of the Gobi Jasper you sent in the tumbler now. Can't wait.

The white sand is for placing the rocks at the angles I want and making white balancing easier, but cleaning up is challenging. I might try white slime next time.

Nguni Jasper polished: They have an acceptable shine and look good in person, but the macro scale photos explains why their polishes didn't exceed my expectation. The boring dark brown areas are the finest and have normal polish.

Some more red pink quartz. The top-right corner one could be opalized (what the seller said).

It is fun to tumble these black white chalcedony roses: But it is a big pain to try to focus on the interesting bands and swirls under the clear chalcedony layer. Probably won't be good to rely on auto focus. Not sure where they are original from. Does anybody have any idea?
