Quartz or calcite. How hard is it?

Breaking it up will likely result in a lot of fractures. The top piece looks like it already has a lot of fractures. It also looks like a couple different things mixed together. It looks like it would make a nice yard rock standing on end like a tower and almost has a natural base on the side that's at the top in the pic.

It's going to end up on the rock wall around my house, It's kinda cool looking so I'll put it someplace where it can be seen. I'm pretty sure it's quartz and not calcite, because it is pretty hard. I think I will eventually break up the smaller piece some and tumble that, that is in good shape, that is unless I get a bigger tumbler.
