As you travel upstream from Zapata Tx/Lake Falcon along the Rio Grande the cobbles get bigger and bigger jasoninsd. Eventually the Rio will reach Big Bend National Park. Well, the cobbles of agates and jaspers(less variety though) in the park section of the river are 'Federal property' and no one is allowed to collect them. I went there. Never want to return. Those giant agates teased me to no end. And it was desolate and tempting to load a few into the vehicle ! Yes, I refrained. The other problem with heading upstream past the Lake Falcon section is the narrow river allowing easy crossings. And the border towns namely Laredo where they might as well issue you a knife at the city limits. I was heading down there this winter. My Zapata contact Fernando said I can collect his family's lands but with all the turmoil down there I am having 2nd thoughts. So the almost circle(in a white line) at the top is a natural mound about 3 football fields across. The line is the high water mark where the alkaline white stain had weathered off the rocks so they could be ID'ed. The white areas in the shrub pastures and along the shore are rock bars and roads. The shoreline rocks are painted with a white alkaline coating, not good. The green stuff will rip your skin off your arms, if you can just make it to one of the white spots thru the mesquite from the road many untouched agates can be found. Funny thing about that natural mound was that it was an in situ mini petrified forest. Lots of wood and imported cobbles mixed together.

Your cabs always look great! I especially like the tube structures in #8 and the painting-like look of #2.

It's not so much fun going hounding somewhere where you need a flack jacket and six bodyguards along with you just to pick up some rocks! Your cabs always look great! I especially like the tube structures in #8 and the painting-like look of #2. Thank you SO much! #2 should be called Picasso Crazy Lace! LOL - I totally agree on the tubes in that Crazy Lace! I find tubular structures SO fascinating when they get captured just right in a slab or cab (or tumble for that matter!).
