Hey all, I missed a local ad for a nearby estate sale this weekend and they sold a grinder and flatlap for only $275.
However, I was able to pick up some older slabs but I don't know what they are. If any of you do, would you please help me identify them? All pics are numbered for reference and wet, with a double pic for those that are transluscent and a light shined through. Some of them may be the same type of rock, I just don't know. Many thanks in advance for any help!! 01: translucent - dry surface sparkle 02: translucent - green, yello, white 03: translucent - dark green 04: opaque - dark green (glare on lower right- ignore) 05: translucent - gold yellow 06: opaque 07: slightly translucent - with feathered areas of clear (no picture); *Mahogany Obsidian maybe but I've never seen it partially translucent (glare on lower right-ignore) 08: translucent - red specks 09: translucent 10: opaque - Picture Jasper maybe?? 11: translucent 12: translucent 13: opaque 14: translucent 15: opaque - *Mahogany Obsidian again perhaps 16: translucent - slightly 17: opaque - I would have guessed Mahogany Obsidian again, but this one is speckled?? 18: transluscent 19: transluscent - light grayish, with dedrites maybe?? 20: opaque 21: transluscent 22: transluscent - I think this one looks like a pork chop, and somebody was planning on a cab. 23: translucent 24: translucent 25: translucent 26: translucent - this one is super thin, so I'll probably just put it on the mantel with a light behind it to display the beauty! Thanks for your help everyone! markb

Wow! Zero help on the identification...but I do want to say nice "hounding"! Just a thought. I think your yellow background is altering the color of the slabs in the pictures. Might want to think about a different background (white or black perhaps) so the colors of the material stays a little more true. Just throwin' that out there...

1 & 8 look like rhodonite. I kept 01, but deleted 08, because in the daylight they looked the same. What do you tell customers if you don't know where something is from? Thx.

Six thumbs up on the picture upgrade! Way better!!! I would say things like "Unknown Moss Agate" or "Unknown Brecciated Jasper"...
