All collected from Utah and Big Bear a few years ago.......most have been worked a couple of times.......:
Rough and Processed
Utah
Big Bear
Previous Process
Previous Process
Was just cleaning up some of my scrap piles and reflecting on previous polishes.......Think I can improve on some of the past polishes.......? It's all very tough material to cut, but all takes to a good finish & shine, once flat lap 90grade diamond disc'd and vibe processed......no rotary tumble....!
Some of the more intricate pieces from previous cutting & polishing.......:
Might not be able to improve on those without better tools.....!

The Wife and I have self collected for years (even my Son in Utah got into collecting with us, for awhile).....she has friends into jewelry design/crafting for profit, I have friends into geology/soils engineering, for profit.
We made a bet/friendly loving wager back in 2017, that I could cut and polish-up (good enough for her friends to work with), some of the stuff we have collected.........without going full-blown $$$ serious hobby.......she doubted I could meet her expectations without spending like I have on my serious hobby stuff (music making instruments/recording machines, firearms, UAV drone & aquariums)...........I won, but the amount of time invested NOT working with or (spending) what it really takes for tools to deliver "retail" quality, like so many here at RTH have eventually invested in, has taken it's toll on my desire, motivation and stick-to-it-ness......yet, the good Wife has acknowledged success. She got me off my dead ass for a couple of years and her friends love the free roughed-out gems I've managed.........LOL
This is not a "pat-on-the back" or look at me statement.....I went cheap intentionally, not knowing if I had the patients for this aspect of the hobby......and or if the effort/reward would keep me coming back........sorry, it did not and does not......the good Wife also acknowledges this.....but, not for HER encouragement and pleasure receiving the "labors of love".... Yes I've had some terrific success and failures.....I will continue....some.......might as well put to use, as time allows, the tricks to the trade I've gathered.....lol
Not counting media, grits, polishes and various other mineral/chemical agents........I've only managed to spend just under $900 total, on two vibes, one tile saw, one 2 speed bench grinder, one Dremel & bits, 3 vibe bowls, two CNC crafted alum grinding disc plates, 1/2 dozen of various diamond facet disc, five tile saw blades & two completely waste of time and effort HF dual rotary tumblers (knowing full well they would disappoint.....they did).......I consider the cost associated to/with the agents, much like that of taking a shower with soap and water or brushing my teeth with paste and baking soda......disposable overhead........lol
I also acknowledge & pay tribute to the many folks here at RTH, that accelerated my intellectual learning process (even to those who are not aware they contributed) .....and to those who have kept me motivated (if by nothing more or less than your works)........and the Lords blessings and sprinkles of immense patients and humility bestowed upon me............not to be a perfectionist.........learn from the failures, expand from the success......!
Bless you folks who can sit for hours (make time for such), wait for weeks & months, grind your fingers to the pink meat, inhale and absorb micro silica dust, work under extreme temperatures in your shops/sheds/living rooms/basements......ect. ect ect......I commend each and every one of you......it takes something special inside to enjoy this hobby that much......lol
Anyway, I'll get to the cutting "soon enough"........ah-oh, the good Wife is calling, better have some good excuse for "are they done yet"........lol

What's to think about? They all look like they want to be worked! Oh......they need some care, for sure........lol... but, I'm getting ready to send some of that to the Wife's jeweler friends.......to bad my my photography skills have exceeded my polishing skills.....otherwise, they may have been represented in another fashion, not so life like......lol......I ain't been thinking to hard about it though, got plenty other left overs to contemplate. If you've read my follow through, I'm sure you know where I'm at with this labor......lol
