Life lesson this morning- I may have to start dopping now! Yep, lost my grip and the polish wheel sent it flying. 🤥

Dang, miket! I'm sorry that happened. It's one of the reasons I dop my stones. The older I get, the more stiff my fingers get and the dexterity I once had is long gone. It's still possible for a stone to fly off the dop if it's not secured well, but I haven't had that happen in a really long time.

It looks like it was a pretty one too .
I'm a traditionalist & use dop wax, and one thing I found out is that it's best to leave the wax dry overnight on the stick & cab before grinding.
Maybe I'm just over cautious but I haven't had a cab come off a stick, so what ever I'm doing it's working. :-)

Arg!!! I’m sorry. However, all is not lost.
You could put a piece in the gap, or a wire, or…. Make two cabs! Good luck!

SON OF A...!!! If that's a Fairburn, I think I'd save that one. The break is straight enough you could trim up the break edges, then "splice" it back together with another piece of material...rework it...and call it Fairburn Interrupted! Just a week or so ago, I wasn't paying attention enough (so unlike me! LOL) and I went off the edge of the wheel with the cab. The side of the wheel grabbed the point of the cab, ripped the dop out of my hand, slammed the cab and metal dop into the drip pan then against the back of the cabbing unit. Scared the CRAP out of me! LOL - I shut the machine off and tentatively reached behind the wheels to pick up the anticipated pieces. There wasn't a scratch on it (that wasn't already there! LOL). Still on dop and no damage. If I was going to hit the lottery, I would have preferred to have just bought a scratch off ticket! LOL There have been numerous times where my results look JUST like yours though!

Whats your plans for it now? Will you tumble it or glue it? Thanks Ashley! I was being super careful with this one, I liked the colors and patterns. Not sure what I'll do with it- probably just pitch it, the bottom piece has a cracked and it was a fairly small cab to begin with. It looks like it was a pretty one too .

Oh well, not the first cab I've broken by any means Patty! I'm useful to holding the cabs, I may have to get used to something else... Arg!!! I’m sorry. However, all is not lost.
