Time for new wheels. No more diamond left. That's what I'm thinking, too.

Dude! No wonder you're having trouble! Don't blame yourself- blame the wheels. Also, your wheels shouldn't have such thick rock snot. Are you sure you're using enough water? I use both geysers under one wheel at a time.

Your blue (1200) wheel definitely needs to be replaced, Mike. You can see the bare material right there. If the rest of the wheel is that bad, it may be at least part of the problem. ETA: Hard to tell on the other wheels. There's too much rock snot on them! Yeah, I think I need more wheels also, thanks Robin and others! Another interesting thing that I learned- that rock snot is from the one cab of Apache. I unknowingly cabbed an almost pure white cab last night and it stained it. I tried using water and an old t-shirt to clean the black off of the wheels- is there something else that I can use?

I "procured" one from my wife's kitchen...I still don't think she knows where it went! LOL

I may be wrong, but I believe the rock snot is actually melted plastic. Looks like you went to the layer past the point of diamond.

I don't think you need any diamond on the wheels to shape Apache Gold! The little bit I did I was still removing material on a worn 1200 wheel. That stuff is seriously soft.

miket I think realrockhound might have nailed it with the melted plastic. Apache Gold is a blasted mess, but I've never had it stick to the wheels. Definitely do what jasoninsd said and flood it with water and scrub the wheels with a plastic brush. Then we should be able to see the actual wheels (or what's left of them). I use both geysers under one wheel, too.

In fact the first cab I did was too thin- it snapped in half when I was drying it off with my shirt! I was more careful with the next one.

So I got my spitter in and spent some extra time on the 220 wheel, I think I got a little better results. I'm going to keep trying with the wheels that I have while I'm waiting for the new ones. Thanks for looking. 🙂
