I’ve only cabbed one piece. The problem I run into with Holley is that it’s very fracture prone material.

That sounds like a reasonable theory.
Or maybe it has something to do with the chemicals used in the city water treatment.
I put that chunk of ice back into a container with some more water earlier today and put it back in the freezer.
Now it's full of needles radiating from the original piece. It's very cool. I'll try to get some more pics tomorrow.

I'm going to try freezing some distilled water to see what happens.
