realrockhound Nice. Have you cabbed much of it? Now I feel like I should gather up all of ours. Not nearly as much, but a few nice chunks like this. Unfortunately I am currently poorly organized. It's a work in progress, this hobby. Thanks for sharing! I’ve only cabbed one piece. The problem I run into with Holley is that it’s very fracture prone material.

I guess it does look that way doesn't it. Anyway thanks for sharing. Hope to see more random grandpa boxes in the future!

That's some nice Sagenite realrockhound That's one of my favorite rocks to find at the beach. Have you ever seen Sagenice ? These pics are of some frozen tap water from my freezer.

wonder what causes that? Maybe air bubbles trying to escape leaving the long pockets before getting stopped in their tracks? That sounds like a reasonable theory. Or maybe it has something to do with the chemicals used in the city water treatment. I put that chunk of ice back into a container with some more water earlier today and put it back in the freezer. Now it's full of needles radiating from the original piece. It's very cool. I'll try to get some more pics tomorrow. I'm going to try freezing some distilled water to see what happens.

Here's a cup of old distilled bottled water after a couple of days of freezing.

amygdule perhaps your freezer is extra cold or barely freezing or something? Or maybe you live in the Oregon Vortex?

I live with a Black Hole and I have to pedal really fast to keep from falling in.
