As the title really,
I have recently purchased a Raytech TV-5 and despite me running it in the garage on a concrete floor, using a spirit level to check the floor, vibe-unit and bowl are all level before I start. I get the smaller stuff/ceramic media mainly collecting on the "west" hand side, even if I spin the whole thing round 180° the small stuff/ceramic media now collects on the "East" hand side.
It's got me stumped, anyone else had this issue or have any ideas?
It feels like I might have overlooked something so simple I can't see the woods for the trees.
Or maybe, it doesn't really matter??

It probably doesn't matter as long as the rest of the material is moving through the bowl. I'd guess its something related to the way the oscillation is produced and the small stuff being of the right size, mass and shape to make it want to stay in one position relative to the bowls overall structure. I have a TV5 and I've had media that are too small always stay on the bottom despite good movement in all the other rocks in the bowl. Again without a good explanation. Carry on and keep us informed as convenient.

Glad it isn’t just mine. My Ray-Tech does exactly same thing.

I use my TV5 for tumbling my wire-wrapped pendants. I have steel shot in mine as the media. I'm glad you asked this question, as mine does the SAME exact thing. I tried the same thing with regards to turning things around...but to no avail.

Thanks for the replies ladies and gents, glad to see it's not me and it's just the way it is.

My TV-5 has done the exact same thing since I first started it. I happened to stumble upon a possible solution a week or two ago.
Before this, I would typically put my rocks in the bowl first, pour in my media and turn it on. I'd get the same problem of the media clumping to one side or the media would congregate to only a small group of rocks leaving the rest unprotected. One day I forgot to put the rocks in first and put the media in first. I didn't want to take them out so I just dumped my rocks on top. Turned the tumbler on and noticed that the media immediately jumped up and dispersed evenly. Added my grit and water and the balance stayed completely.
I've used this with many batches since then and it continues to perform the same.
I don't exactly know why it works but it does, for me at least. If you haven't yet, I would recommend just trying it and see if it works for you.
