Maybe this Is common knowledge but since I am new to tumbling I'll ask for myself.....why are all the Lortone 6LB barrels out of stock everywhere? Have they stopped making them or are they an odd size?

You may look into a Tumble Bee tumbler, they have Tumblers and Extra Barrels In Stock on their Website. Their 2lb Barrels and 4lb Barrels MIGHT fit on a Lortone depending the dimensions of the machine.

It's not just 6lb barrels. Lots of Loretone parts are in short supply. I could only find 2 places that had a drive axel for a QT12. Last time I checked (a couple of weeks ago) there were definitely more parts out of stock than in stock. It's not just Loretone and it's not just lapidary supplies. Air conditioners and parts are the same way.

Hell my Local wal mart half the time the shelves look like the stories we heard about Soviet Russian back when I was in middle school with tons of empty shelves and nothing to fill them.

Although by keeping inventory low the companies can keep prices high and get better profits. I do HVAC and haven't seen any issues with getting A/C's. We had issues last spring but no problems since.

As others said, supply chain issues. It sounds like they are also having issues (or maybe it was another company), getting their motors as the original manufacturer of them shut down.

I could not find any Lortone so bought a Kingsley North Tumbler that is called the Rebel 17. It literally can hold up to 17 lbs. I have been running this for about 3 weeks and it is an amazing workhorse and has not missed a beat.

Have they stopped making them or are they an odd size? I kept going out to the Lorotone Website and found then in stock one time an ordered it immediately. So maybe I was just lucky. Until the supply chain recovers I would continue to visit the Lorotone website and if it shows in stock order it immediately. Also you could go to Kingsley North website and register with them for when they come back in stock. I have got notices for the 12 lb Lorotone tumbler when it came back in stock and when they had the Lot-o tumbler back in stock. When I get the message, I go to the site and order it immediately and I have got what I need. Good luck.

However I was able to order 6/12# boots, guide pieces and shafts that every shop I've vistied/order from say those parts are OOS. At least I can replace those parts on the used QT66 I found used

The Barrels for the Tumble-Bee look like they MIGHT Fit a Lortone, they are the same design type and look very similar to Lortone barrels.Something to consider. I have been running mine for about 2 months now non-stop and have had zero issues so far. Only Issue I have ran into with mine is that it tends to run on the hotter side, so I just put a house fan blowing on it and it stays cool. Its a flaw yes but its one that is easy enough to work around. tumble-bee.com/collections/rock-tumblers

I hit the local rock shops and eBay for parts for Lortone's .. Sometimes you get lucky.. Ask around too, some people inherited their parents or grandparents Rockhounding stuff and they have no interest in the hobby, so they sell .. I bought a brand new 6# Lortone doing that, for half the price...

I've got a vintage qt-66 I've been needing a belt for for a few months now, and they definitely have some supply issues up at lortone.

It's supply and labor issues. Many many folks are working outside of their previous jobs or just said to hell with it and retired.
F&B is still getting our nuts kicked on supply issues. The higher wages used to lure workers in are starting to drop too.

Shafts, bearings, belts, boots OH MY! Oh sorry brain got away from me. Seriously though they had them in stock and stated in an email they expect the 6# barrels back in stock "before Christmas" Kelly

I've got a vintage qt-66 I've been needing a belt for for a few months now, and they definitely have some supply issues up at lortone. Perk, I'm working on sourcing my Thumler AR12 via a different route. I don't know the QT66, is the belt on the outside?
Edit - NVM I see it's some kind of timing belt...hmm
You see any numbers on the belt at all..I know a guy that knows a place that supplies a lot of old belts...
Also found this down the search bar...dunno who reputable it is
That one clearly states it doesn't have teeth and is a v-belt.
