Finally had some time this weekend! Here we go... My last slab of the season was some Noreena jasper. I tried cabbing a little of it. Number two. This one is pretty thick so I'll cut a groove in the side for some wire. Next I'm trying to clear off some scraps on my bench. Here's one... And the other. I don't normally do inside curves and am still getting the hang of it. Then finally I had a lake superior agate cut and stuck to the dop stick for a few months and forgot about about what it looked like inside... Went for it. Bummer about the fractures.

They are gorgeous! Are the 2nd and 3rd leopardskin jasper?
The lake superior one is charming nevertheless!

Beauties! Great job on the Noreenas. You got a pretty good polish on them. Love the Leopard Skins, too.
It's too bad about the fractures in the Laker. It's an awesome stone.

I went back on that first Noreena after the picture and got a little more shine out of it. It's in the freezer right now trying to separate from the dop.

Alex, you're killing me with that Noreena! Wowzers can you get that stuff to shine!! I think the inside curves look great! pebblesky - Yes...that's Leopard Skin Jasper...aka Leopard Skin Rhyolite. It's another one of those materials that isn't named correctly by calling it a "jasper"...but that's what someone tagged it as along the way...

I LOVE that inside curve shape and your Noreena polish is enviable. Wow!

Really nice ones @agatewhisper, I like that first Leopard Skin, and of course the Noreena jasper.
But, why is it the last slabs of the season ?

I usually give the outdoor saw a rest once it gets below freezing and the rain turns chunky. Even in the garage it's not all that enjoyable in the winter so I focus on using some of the slabs rather than making more for a couple months. There are probably a few weeks left but Noreena jasper makes my saw look like a blood bath and that carries on for everything afterwards as well, so it's a good time for a clean out.

AH!, I get it now. Fortunately for me the winters here aren't too bad.
