Beautiful cab and very appropriate pumpkin background. The wrapping itself resembles a pumpkin! š

Very nice! Love the cab and the photos with the pumpkin. The wrap is very neat and your bindings look very good. Well done!

Ashley, you did a great job! Not only on the "technical" aspects, but also on the complimentary wrap that suits the opal. And you are right to go to the basics and get them nailed, it will serve you well forever. (I need to do more of that!) A possibly helpful hint: at least for me, working with square wire is less forgiving and more difficult. Round wire seems to flow easier and is easier to get tight around the stone. As I type this, I realize that this varies from person to person, but you may want to give it a try.

Thanks for showing the back ashley, it looks nice and clean (I hate busy wrap backs). And so does the front (look nice & clean).
Good you didn't try to over-complicate it- your wrap fits the pretty simple stone, IMHO.
My only feedback (and I know I am VERY much still in the wrapping stage that I want feedback) is to try and get the stone tight into the bottom, personally unless there is a reason not to (in a certain design) I work on that.
Also I think others have mentioned it- they sell finger nail boards (I buy them at the dollar store)
that work pretty good on getting little tool marks out.
I'll tell you what I'm finding out, the more wraps I do, it's getting a little easier. So keep up the good work !

It seemed a bit easier for me with the square on this one as it sits nicely on each other where as the round felt clumsy to me and seemed to roll around on me where it felt so awkward and hard to control if that makes sense. Wire wrapping seems to be a bit of a tedious task. Maybe the fast pace action of kids makes me anxious to get it done before they start hounding me lol. Perhaps the next wrap I try will be during nap time!

Thanks Patty! Oh yeah I see that now, it is lifted up off the base a bit. Thank you for pointing that out to me! I will remembered that next time. Thanks for the tips!

Way to go kiddo! I agree you picked a great design idea for this wrap as it compliments what's going on (or not going on) in the cab! You absolutely nailed the binding wires...there are no gaps and the pressure you applied when putting them on was consistent! Great job!! Hint: I have made a TON of teardrop cabs. One of the things that helps me keep the wires so "tightly" formed against the bottom of the teardrop wraps that I do...I have a preform of a teardrop that I use to bend the wire into the same shape of the bottom of the cab that I'm doing. I use the preform, because it's 1/4" thick and ALL the wires are going to bend at the exact curvature of the cab I'm using in the wrap. Not all shapes are going to be a teardrop...so something you can pick up rather inexpensively is a set of "Beadsmith Mandrel 4X". They're less than $10 on eBay...and if you Google it, you can find them for sale elsewhere. I use the round one quite frequently to make the curve on the bottom of wraps. I have a digital caliper. I measured the width of each of the round sections and wrote the measurements onto the mandrel with a Sharpie. Then I use the caliper to measure the piece I'm going to wrap and know which section of the round mandrel I need to use to make the appropriate bend. The same thing can be accomplished with a bunch of dowels of different sizes...but the above mandrel has a bunch of different sizes in one compact little tool...

The more I practice wrapping them more appreciation I have for all of you wire wrappers who make it look easy! This is not the easiest thing and certainly takes practice. All you wire wrappers are awesome! Here is my latest attempt at wrapping. I wish it were more symmetrical and had less tool marks. But Iām happy to have gotten more practice and like parts of it. (I added a picture of the back for you Patty liveoak lol!) ashley girl that is AWESOME!!!!

jasoninsd That's really smart to use a preform! I never thought of that, but I do have plenty of mandrels that serve the same purpose. A preform would have been cheaper! LOL!

I told myself all summer long to take some thick cut Prairie Agates and cut all the "normal" shapes I use, so I could use them like the teardrop. That didn't happen! LOL
